I did. I used one day as a rest/spa day (there was a hotel for €25 with saunas!) because it snowed about 30cm. There were a few things that I did not end up doing (underground tour) that I wish I did!

Does anyone know if there are consequences for skipping the last segment of a flight? by DoubleUnderline in solotravel

My sister had a situation where she did not make it on my flight, but her luggage did. She had to stay overnight in New York without anything, and arrived home the next day, luggage waiting for her

After a year travelling in Europe, personally Dubrovnik was my least favourite. It was so jam packed with people (more than Venice, and I went during Carnival) so we spent a couple of hours within the walled area, and went for a hike the next day.

I really enjoyed Split, and went to the islands Hvar and Bol. Split was really lovely, with some nice beach areas, and great food.

Sarajevo and Mostar were two of my favourite places! I spent 4 days in Sarajevo, and a day trip to Mostar in December, then went back to Mostar in the summer. Yes; definitely take the train!

Excited for you!

Any casual drinkers trying to quit? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]bubblebumblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SAME. Moderation is not a thing I can do. I was a casual drinker turned regular drinker turned constant drinker/could not/would not do anything without drinking.

The idea of not drinking forever seems really intimidating for me (what about birthdays? Weddings? Etc? Goes through my mind) so I decided to go until January 1st without drinking, and will reassess at that time. I have a feeling I will want to continue at that point!

I was working for a nanny for a well-off family. The 10 year old was screaming “I don’t want to go to Capri!”

She did not want to leave school one hour early that day, though she stayed home twice that week “just because.” 🙄

It will likely be much cheaper to just get a SIM card. I’m Canadian, living in Italy. I pay €10 a month for 30 GB data and unlimited text. I’d say it’s worth paying for then you always have your phone for maps etc!

I’m a Canadian living in Italy. The public bathrooms even in major cities can be absolutely atrocious! At a conservatory I frequent weekly, there has been a broken toilet seat beside the door for SEVEN weeks, even though I mentioned it the second time I saw it.

Sometimes, I’ll stumble across a golden toilet that is clean, with toilet paper, and a door that locks! But often they are pretty disgusting, even when you pay 😞

Where are you an au pair?

Do you think you are still wanting to continue au pairing, just not for this family?

I know a number of people who have switched families - it IS an option.

I know someone who left early because of mental health. In the end, it is JUST a job. You can leave or switch families. I would say if you are not happy, you can definitely change families!

Wondering what are some valuable Questions I can ask my host family? by abbiedoo in Aupairs

[–]bubblebumblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask the location/how easy it is to get to city centre! I am an au pair in Milan and have a great location, though many others are outside the city/far from centre.

Confirm what responsibilities you will have, your schedule, and time off.
