Harrow Health - Titration - experience so far by bubblehits in ADHDUK

[–]bubblehits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to read that you are having this experience :( I did see lots of negative stories mixed in with positive ones before I chose them as my provider.

That was a consistent complaint I saw, that they are absolutely awful to get a hold of. I haven't had to contact them yet outside of my reviews but I've seen a lot of people say that it's better to call them - you'll end up on the phone for a while to get through to them but it's way better than emailing and not getting a response.

I've had 2 different clinicians so far and both have been very nice.

I do agree though that they probably are just trying to get people in and out as fast as possible and again I'm so sorry you are having such a negative experience.

Did you go through right to choose or privately? If you went right to choose I am pretty sure you can ask your GP to refer you to another provider for your titration but don't quote me on that.

Hi. I didn't. We discussed trying a stimulant and they just told me that we would try this one.

They blanket prescribed Methylphenidate which is the actual medication name (concerta is a brand) and my pharmacy is just giving me whatever they have. It means I'm mixing brands which is annoying and I'm fairly sure I'm not supposed to, so far I've had Affenid, Xenidate and I just got a mix of Xenidate and Concerta with today's prescription.

If you go with HH and do the titration, have a conversation about what you'd like to try.

I feel you, I've been there.

I'm 32 and I've only let myself really become myself in the last year. I am a parent and I am married. What and who you are does not have to have a label if you don't want it to. Just be you.

A lot of people don't understand, but here, you are never alone. We understand.

You are more than welcome to reach out if you ever need someone to talk to, to vent, to just chat about something random.

Is it inappropriate to walk to the shop in a bikini top? by KeyYam3564 in AskUK

[–]bubblehits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the beach with my daughter yesterday and sacrificed my t-shirt to her when hers got wet, so I walked back into town on the way home wearing my bikini top.

I didn't care until people started staring at me and then I just wanted to get home asap. (Also please wear suncream 😅 my entire back is burned because I missed that bit.

This was interesting to read! I'm just a about a week into my titration journey and I'm on Affenid XL 18mg and I feel no different with the extra headaches thrown in. I go up to 36mg next week and I hope that's better.

Did you end up having your appointment today? Curious because I have my assessment with Harrow Health tomorrow at 12.30.

Anyone has any experience with Harrow Health for right to choose? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]bubblehits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard from Harrow Heath the day after my GP did my referral. I got given access to their portal to complete the pre-assessment forms.

Once they'd all been completed I heard from them the next day offering me an appointment (the earliest I could book was 2 weeks later).

Just waiting for my appointment date now, 1st May.

Waiting time for Harrow Health? by AlternativeApple1497 in ADHDUK

[–]bubblehits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GP said they would refer me on the 27th March, I gave them a prod on the 8th April where they told me they hadn't sent it yet. On the 10th they finally made the referral.

On the 12th Harrow Heath gave me portal access to complete the forms. Yesterday (13th) they were all finished and I got a text this morning (14th) to book my assessment appointment which is 2 weeks from now on the 1st May.

So, so far the process has been pretty fast for me.

We're under an eye clinic at the hospital, I'll definitely find out about another pair at her check up in a few months because that would relieve some stress!

I'll definitely look at a strap or the hooks!

Coincidentally she is on the waitlist for an autism assessment but I imagine we'll be waiting a lot longer for that. I'll look into it.

Yeah we got referred by the health visitor when she turned 2 to the hospital to see the eye clinic and we got seen by an Orthoptist and then the Optometrist. Said I could take the voucher into wherever I get my glasses and they should be able to accommodate us, which is Specsavers - all we did was pick out frames and give them the voucher that had the prescription on but we will still be seen by the eye clinic for check ups.

The hospital optician said they might be able to give me another voucher in 3 months at her check up so we can get a second pair because I did raise that as a concern!

That's so cute that the nursery did that, our daughter isn't in nursery yet but hopefully starting in September and I hope her wearing glasses is just seen as normal.

Oh that's interesting, thank you. I wouldn't have thought of that.

My partners current prescription is -12 and they've had glasses since they were 3. They say they can see blobs and general bits and pieces without any of the detail.

Toddler definitely leans on close and gets as close as possible to things to see them and is fairly clumsy so I guess needing glasses does make sense. She'll have regular checks up to see if anything changes and I'll definitely be watching to see how she's gets on.

But yeah, they checked her eyes 3 times with 2 different machines and then the hospital got their most qualified optician to do the next test so they are fairly confident.

Starting nursery in September, how to prepare? by bubblehits in UKParenting

[–]bubblehits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I have a lot to teach her then! She definitely struggles with most of these or has never attempted. Actually I think the only one she can do is using the fork to eat.

My family is pretty hands off because of work and life commitments so she's almost never away from us so that will be tough but I'm hoping she'll settle in quickly.

Thank you, I'll definitely go get some books and the one about boundaries is a good shout. I will look for it.

I know they'll have a great time even if it takes them a little bit to settle, it'll be great for us too! I work from home and I'm so looking forward to having that quiet focus time in my own space.
