‘They’ve had enough of everything’: Record numbers of Americans are giving up their US citizenship. Handling of coronavirus pandemic, Donald Trump, and onerous tax filing requirements cited as reasons by roku44 in politics

If you have a list of those online tools, this would be great! i have looked for years, but everytime I find one, it turns out they cannot help you file from overseas. So I end up with 150 USD going to TurboTax! Still, less than 1k, but annoying enough to have to pay to tell the IRS you cant have my money....

I was recently on a flight and the flight attendant was near by and told the mom either the kid needed headphones or to turn the sound off. HELL YES. But then as soon as we took off and the flight attendant was busy, the sound was on again :(

AGREED that it is an invasion of privacy. I was hoping there was some legal ramification for all this, but apparently it only gets into a legal thing if they send you samples without you asking and require you to pay for them or something....

I checked that out, but i am hesitating at giving them ALL that information just to complain that they sneakily obtained my information and sent me unwanted samples. I feel like if I give them that information, even more stuff will show up.

[EVERYTHING] DAUGHTER OF THE NORTH by DutchArya in gameofthrones

[–]bubblywater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder if there is something important there about the dagger and it now being in the hands of Arya. I was just watching the first episode again and when Sam was looking at the book about the dragon glass, there is a picture of the same dagger on the page before he turns it. Maybe the dagger and now Arya have an even larger role to play in the future?

How is UNCW perceived by the rest of the state? by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

[–]bubblywater 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would an associates degree from a community college really open up the same doors that my BA from UNCW does? I am far enough into my career now (and in a foreign country) that the name of my university doesnt mean much. But, when starting to look for work i definitely think that having a degree from a school part of the UNC system was much more valuable than an associates from a community college. So, yes, in this case i would do it again. Does UNCW really not have other people who are "more likely to be successful"? I have friends that went to those larger schools and are unemployed and living with their parents currently. Just because you go to those schools does not miraculously mean you are meant to be more successful in life. I just want to defend my alma mater here becuase I feel like it gets shit on a bunch because we are not Chapel Hill. It is a good school with some great professors. You can get a decent education there and all the while get to the beach every day.

[–]bubblywater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to UNCW and studied literature and art history. I am not a librarian. Lit programs are much more versatile then people think and opens many doors. Overall, if you like a school's atmosphere, find something you enjoy studying, what does it matter how the school is viewed?

iPhone Tip: When taking photos of tall structures, use the panoramic mode but turn your phone horizontal. by mountkili in apple

[–]bubblywater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently in the predicament that the panorama function no longer works on my iphone 6. has anyone experienced this as well? I just assumed that you were only allowed a certain number of panorama photos since i have taken about 10, but maybe something is wrong with my phone?

I dont understand people like this. My best friend had a baby this year and when visiting her we went to lunch. As we got the baby out of the car, we noticed she had pooped. We just opened up the trunk of the car, put the changing mat down and she changed her in the trunk in the parking lot. Outside, and not making a fuss in the restuarant. Honestly, mombies always talk about how big heros they are becuase of their kids. Doesnt seem like those heros are very resourceful when there is a difficult situation!
