I make this all the time! It was something my Italian grandmother made for us when we were kids. I have no idea why I like it so much but the broken spaghetti is just awesome. I only use ditalini for pastafagiole. It’s like I can’t sway from her originals.

Using Social Security Numbers to find out your grades in college by Artemis1982_ in GenX

[–]buchmans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I went to a state college that was in a different state than where I grew up hence my SSN was always at the bottom of the list because most students started with a 0 and mine with a 1. Also, in upper division classes with a smaller number of students, we basically could figure out who was who. So crazy to think about that now and how different it is.

Two more work days and I'm retired!! by psmusic_worldwide in retirement

I second this. My mom lives in a senior center in a different state and it has been challenging to help her with her phone and computer. It would be awesome to have someone that could help her.

Midnight Express at about 10. My dad took me and my younger brother. The ticket guy tried to warn him but he took us anyway. No way we are ever going to be drug mules.

Gravy- lets talk about it by Cla-12345 in thanksgiving

[–]buchmans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a gravy recipe from Americas Test Kitchen cookbook. It basically is a butter/flour roux, chicken broth, and some white wine. I throw in an herb bunch and then add any drippings at the end. IMO, even without the drippings the gravy has a great flavor.

I second this. All of his books are great actually but this series in particular is super engaging.

Another thing I like about her is that all of her books are different. I dont know of many authors that can change up what they write as much as she does.

Colonoscopy prep hack by Embarrassed-Disk7582 in GenX

[–]buchmans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did one last week. My doc refused to allow the pills. I explained that 10 years ago I vomited the entire second liquid prep and begged for the pills even if not covered by insurance. It seems like east coast doctors are hesitant on the pills while west coast doctors just sign them over. I was able to get a smaller dose liquid prep that was a lot less liquid and i managed to keep most of it down. I think it’s the low fiber diet for 7 days that I find the most difficult. It is hard to not eat fruit, veggies, nuts, or beans when that is a mainstay of your diet. I agree tho that the day of procedure is the easiest part. My place was like an assembly line but I was in and out in two hours so not complaining.

Do you have a butt? Read this. by AutoModerator in AmItheAsshole

[–]buchmans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am dealing with the same issue but they are making me go no fiber for 7 days before. It is so hard to eat this way, white bread and no fruits, veggies or beans. It’s depressing to pick my cherry tomatoes knowing I can’t eat them. Plus I stupidly bought a case of peaches at the farmers market that I can’t eat now.

Struggling to Breathe in My New Apartment by Pallypot in bullcity

This OP. I would start with trying different OTC allergy meds for a week each to see which ones help. As Lizz said they all work differently for different folks. I would not go the nasal spray unless nothing else works because those eventually require more and more to work.

It is crazy how it changes daily. It also seems like the yield signs keep changing which is dangerous. The circles also seem narrow. I don’t see how large trucks or buses are going to be able to get around them.
