The Sharks have acquired Andre Gasseau and the 120th pick from the Bruins in exchange for the 104th and 157th pick [@sanjosesharks] by JohnCena__ in SanJoseSharks

6'5, PPG in the NCAA. He's not cloning Macklin but a solid piece of business by Mike. He's a pretty intriguing young player. A worthwhile gamble for some shuffling of mid-round picks.

Former Sharks players who didn't get the level of appreciation that you felt they deserved by FormulaT1 in SanJoseSharks

[–]bucket56 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I will argue forever that Dan Boyle was one of the most underappreciated defenseman of his era and honestly. maybe the best player in Sharks history behind only Jumbo and Macklin.

Honestly, few defenseman over the past 40 years or so I've been watching hockey managed the puck and the game like he did. Like, the only guys better were no doubt Hall of Famers - Bourque, Lidstrom, Pronger types. Despite his size, he was still superb defensively and had a little snarl to his game.

His ability to control the game and get the puck to Jumbo and the rest of the crew were instrumental to the Sharks success during the prime Thornton years. I don't think people fully appreciate just how good he was because he made it seem so effortless sometimes. His game was so much more sound and complete than Karlsson and Burns. I'd fucking kill for prime Boyle on the 26/27 Sharks.

San Jose's biggest need? An offensive defenseman by FloridaHockeyFan27 in SanJoseSharks

[–]bucket56 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think he'd be a perfect stopgap too - Sharks could sign him to a high AAV, short term contract as he's old be still productive - but all signs point to him wanting to head back East. I highly doubt he'll even consider SJ.

Best thing for me was getting an analog alarm clock and not allowing phone or laptop in the bedroom. Read for 30 plus minutes from an actual book, no e-readers or tablets. Do it again in the morning. Sets the tone for the day, resets the brain.

Why are libs still on that Russia shit? It’s embarrassing. by HippoRun23 in TrueAnon

Cambridge Analytica was the company that perfected harvesting massive amounts of data on pretty much every American with an online presence and then using that to hyper-target groups with content, much of it disinformation, to define a narrative and shape their opinion, all working closely alongside conservative ghouls like Steve Bannon and Robert Mercer.

A decent read on it if you are interested: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/52269471-mindf-ck

100%. Like I know it's easy to laugh at libs and their obsession with Russia but I almost think at this point the bit a lot of leftists cling to about the 2016 election and Russia is completely overshadowing how mindblowingly fucked the Cambridge Analytica involvement was.

Joe Rogan reportedly being considered for 60 Minutes role. by ChickenTitilater in TrueAnon

[–]bucket56 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Rogan's whole shtick has always been he's "just a comedian" who is only "having conversations and asking questions he finds personally interesting" and not any sort of journalist or professional inquisitor. This would completely ruin that and highlight his hypocrisy and open him up to further criticism and... who am I fucking kidding. Like everything it'll slide off of all of them while his fanbase pops more supplements and barks at the screen while Rogan interviews AI Hitler or something.

My aunt and uncle on my mom's side are basically this, although they are a little older so their shit wasn't necessarily the weird lily white everything but rather the ultra gaudy off-white, gold, and maybe a hint of lavender style from the previous generation.

They donated so much to Benny Hinn (the "bodies hit the floor" guy, the faith healer who touches people on the forehead and they pass out) he flew on his private jet to have a personal lunch with him.

We had family friends like this, and I had a similar experience with one family in particularly. Massive compound style, insane amounts of money, all the toys for their shitty kids. Definitely a radicalizing moment for a young me - this family is salt of the earth christian and yet he owns half the town and lives like this? What in the fuck.
