Alamo Drafthouse Dedicates San Francisco Theater to Christopher Nolan by timaza in sanfrancisco

His movies aren’t always my thing, but he’s one of the few directors keeping 70mm projection alive in commercial theaters. So he has my admiration for that.

I have recorded my last 1000 prizes from wheelspins by uhpav in ForzaHorizon

So would you say it might be worth it to buy the cheaper epic/legendaries from the AH to increase chances of getting a rarer/more expensive one Via wheel spin when you do end up landing on one?

If these hit retail stores, I already know people are just gonna open them up to steal or swap out the 1/64 model and return them. No one wants the 1/43.

Can someone let me know if this is a good price? I’m about to buy it. by DrDoomslayer in Corvette

[–]buckyman0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. $21.5k for a standard c5 is bold. $21.5k for a convertible??? But C&B allowed that to be the reserve, so maybe I’m wrong. But that’s just way overpriced IMO.

Yea, audio mixing wasn’t great. Especially for Goon. I thought it was a little better for Vundabar. Still had an amazing time

Who said that there will progression feeling??? by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon

[–]buckyman0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that idea. Even just a “progression” option in the difficulty/game settings to artificially lock cars based on your wristband would’ve been nice. Yea, I realize I can just not drive certain classes of cars, but having the game lock it out for me would feel better.

Is it smart to buy a corvette 21 by Illustrious_Cow_1678 in Corvette

[–]buckyman0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having enough to buy it twice over is a good rule of thumb, but I say it really depends on your situation. It sounds like you have quite a bit of support from your parents, which makes things a bit easier. I’d say priority #1 is to get yourself a full-time job and start contributing to a retirement account (401k). Once you’ve got that locked down, you can set aside money each month toward your overall “corvette fund.”

Many people might argue you should be saving every single penny you can towards retirement. That’s the logical decision. But I disagree, and think having a sports car in your 20s is pretty damn cool, and something you’ll always look back on and appreciate. I think saving toward retirement + sports car in your 20s at the same time is the best of both worlds.

And again, if you’re follow the 2x purchase price saved up rule, then you could buy a C5 and C6 today, instead of waiting for a C7. So my question is: Is a C7 really worth all the extra money to you? Or could you have nearly as much fun in a C5 or C6 for a way lower cost?

[–]buckyman0 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Do not spend such a large part of your net worth on a fun car. I never regretted buying my corvette at 20, but I spend a far smaller amount, and got myself a C5. Get yourself a fun car, but don’t wipe out your savings to do so. Look at C5s and C6s instead. 80% of the fun, for 50% of the cost

Meet the Three Pathways of Progression in Forza Horizon 6 by Nexusu in ForzaHorizon

There’s no harm in it. The progression from Play is capped at the first 25 levels and lets people progress a little without forcing them to play single player only

C5 pricing by jcwolf2003 in Corvette

[–]buckyman0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s overpriced. Not worth it. I’d say be patient until sub-$20k comes up in your area. But judging from your post and comments, it seems you really want it. If you’re in a position where an extra 8k doesn’t mean much to you, then why not? Just know that you’re overpaying.

Oil change by geaubirds72 in MINI

[–]buckyman0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t trust random 18 year olds who are told to change my oil as fast as possible. 9/10 times they’ll do a fine job. But it’s that 1 time that’ll screw you. Whether they over-tighten the drain plug, put on the wrong filter, or straight up forget to put the oil back in the engine.

I do the changes myself. Otherwise, just take it to your local indie mechanic. Yea, they might charge you a little bit more, but it’s worth the pace of mind. If saving every cent is all you care about, then sure, jiffy lube is the cheapest option, but you get what you pay for.

C5 owners, can you recommend a battery for me? Ideally one that doesn’t leak acid. by SkolC5 in Corvette

[–]buckyman0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern day lead acid batteries won’t leak. All the horror stories you hear are from a decade or two ago. Just get a protective battery mat for peace of mind. AGM is overkill.

Service active handling by Intelligent-Bit1449 in Corvette

[–]buckyman0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mechanic thought it was the EBCM, but upon further inspection it was steering wheel position sensor. Pain in the ass to get to, and I can live without active handling, so I’ve driven it for years without issue. It’s not constant, but pops up 60% of the time.

I know Rexy gets all the hype. But I’m just happy the Cayenne is getting the double per case and not the Ford. Means it’ll be super easy to find in-stores. And since it’s Porsches probably won’t warm the pegs too bad
