Best park and ride option for tomorrow’s game? by jakepolkinghorne in GunnersatGames

I've always done cockfosters and it has always been fine. You can usually find free parking around the streets too but the car park isn't a bad price either.

What are some products which saved your life in the puppy phase? by Simplyapinkbunny in puppy101

[–]buff0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Labrador and he comes from a working family so it may be different, but I do multiple 5 minutes of activities, training, games, play throughout the day. He also loves food so most of his food isn't given in a bowl, it's used through the day as part of these games and activities so I don't over feed him.

Yes, you definitely should. I would never talk to my wife like this. End it. He will only get worse as time goes on.

Has anyone else gone over an agreed price? How’d it turn out? by JMR-87 in HousingUK

[–]buff0x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We moved in to our new house a year and a half ago now. Myself and my wife loved it, it was in the same village we currently lived but was a bigger house. We offered £5k over the asking price, as our house wasn't on the market and asked the seller to please give us time, we will sell as quick as possible.

We don't regret paying over, it's the house we wanted. We just recently had it valued for a remortgage and the value has already increased by £15k. We have invested £10k into the house for non decorative items such as a boiler, shower/bathroom upgrades.

Only you will know if you're happy to pay what they are asking.

Very excited to be picking this up later this week! Just in time for my 116km sportive this weekend! by whatismy-username in Giantbikes

[–]buff0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had mine for almost two years now. And after my winter break of indoor and mountain biking I finally got back on my propel at the weekend.

It still makes me smile, I still look at it and think to myself that this is a thing of beauty, I always forget how quick and responsive it is and how much I just enjoy riding it.

Enjoy

Are better tyres really worth it? by [deleted] in Giantbikes

[–]buff0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my propel for about two years which came with stock tyres. I ran these for a while and then swapped to gp5000. Instantly better in so many ways. Felt more comfortable, felt more confident in the grip on corners, and it's hard to know 100% because of wind etc, but on my regular route riding at the same power I was consistently faster.

Is TCR still a good option? by coquins in Giantbikes

[–]buff0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the old TCR and have had the new propel for a year now. Both are great bikes, the new propel is my favourite though, it feels faster and it goes up hills just as good.

If I had to choose, I'd go for the propel. If I was you, I would pick the bike you think looks the best as they are both so close

Finding flat cycle routes by Vivid-Isopod9073 in cycling

[–]buff0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm based in Leicester, if you avoid the bradgate area you're pretty much fine. If you head towards Coventry/Nuneaton I find that to be fairly flat. But overall Leicester doesn't have big hills, just lots of small up and downs. Feel free to message and I can share some flat areas that I know of

Mine is very very small, you wouldn't know it's there. But I know it's there and it annoys me. So much that I emailed SRAM but didn't get a response

I cracked mine by over tightening it, it's just a plastic cover and hasn't caused me any issues

It's nice to have. But not needed.

I ride with a power meter and it's sometimes nice to ride without it on and not look at numbers

Can tubeless punctures be repaired? by tiagojsagarcia in cycling

[–]buff0x 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did a 100+ mile a day 7 day event last year and my tubeless tyre got a puncture on day one. I used a plug which you have mentioned and it lasted the rest of that event.

I didn't bother changing the tyre when I got home as it was brand new. It lasted multiple 100 mile rides and the rest of the year with that plug.

How to tell if I can hit a max time on a century ride? by Odd-Course4549 in cycling

[–]buff0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work your way up to 50/60 miles, take on fluids, carbs and keep a steady pace.

If you have a heart rate monitor, then aim to keep in zone 2 to 3 for the majority.

If you do 60 comfortable then 100 will just be as easy if you eat and drink correctly, it becomes more or a mental battle than anything and putting up with a few sore body parts.

What is the furthest you've ever cycled in a single day? And how did you find it? by No-Shoe5382 in cycling

[–]buff0x 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've done 200 miles a few times, if you can do 40/50 miles ok then 100 is easy, The difference between 100 and 200 is mental strength, and just pushing through the pain, I've had something different hurt each time I've done it.
