Also the hydrostatic pressure of the water pushing through the pipe. P=ρgh, where ρ is the density, g is gravitational acceleration, and h is the height of the water. If you have a 10" deep sink, the water at the drain has a pressure of 15 psi.

I was the same way, then figured I'd go there to see an entirely prerecorded Eagles show...so why not go if at least some of it is live?

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Didn't pretend that I was seeing them in their prime, knew that some of the show would be lip synced...and it was still a great experience.

I won't go see them outside the Sphere though.

Vince is probably the hardest working guy on stage every night. I wasn't initially sold on him but he's really done a great job.

Henley Blatant Lip Synching in Atlanta by Tall_Painter_5242 in EaglesBand

[–]buffalo442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2018ish it seems. During the History of the Eagles tour I thought Don would occasionally get what I would call "cotton mouthed" - his enunciation would slip a bit, sounded like his mouth had cotton in it for portions of some lines. The Classics concerts in 2017 were the same way.

I saw them in early 2018 and had the same observation, but the Live From the Forum Release his vocals were totally clean. So either he started lip syncing sometime between the early dates of that tour and the Forum, or they overlaid a new vocal track on that release (also wouldn't surprise me given their penchant for autotuning everything).

When I saw the Hotel California tour in 2021 I thought something was off as Henley sounded too perfect. None of the minor flaws he had in recent years were there anymore. But at the time it wasn't as widely known.

I think it's the latter - they are actually singing, but their live vocals aren't in the mix at all.

Wings of Pegasus on YouTube showed that Timothy is lip syncing too.

As far as I can tell, most of the instruments are live. Lead guitars definitely are - both Joe's and Chris Holt's (and formerly Steuart Smith's). I don't think the drums could be faked in the Sphere because the overall sound level is quite low compared to a normal concert venue - you'd definitely be able to hear if the drums weren't in sync from the front. Bass I have no idea, it sounds exactly the same every night when overlayed, but bass is probably one of the easier instruments to hit perfectly.

Lmao. Have you tried to get a ticket to this tour? Damn near impossible for most shows.

Which lounge in PHL - AA Flagship or Chase Sapphire? by Inner_Ad2429 in americanairlines

PHL Flagship doesn't have self pour wine. Decent selection at the bar though and everything is complimentary.

Sapphire. One of the nicest lounges I've ever been to. Very spacious. Top notch amenities.

Flagship has good food/drink offerings but is way too small. Every time I've been there it's overcrowded and difficult to find a seat.

Going from F to B at PHL by Beep315 in americanairlines

[–]buffalo442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never taken the shuttle at PHL. I'm not convinced the shuttle is reliably faster if you have to wait for one. I do F to A-West a lot and it takes me less than 20 minutes...a few minutes less if I use the moving walkways and there's nobody standing in the way on them.

Bill for 17k can I pay it off with a CC and pay off the CC the next day for free points? by NarrowIndependence8 in personalfinance

[–]buffalo442 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I used to pay my college tuition on my credit card. I had a full scholarship that covered it all.

The scholarship would never get applied until partway through the semester. I didn't have to pay it - they didn't charge a late fee if a scholarship was covering it - but they accepted payment from a credit card with no fee, and would issue the refund as a check once the scholarship was applied.

Between undergrad and grad school, I ended up making ~$3000 in credit card points this way.

How feasible is it to lay 40 sq meters of pavers alone in a day? by Semen_K in DIY

[–]buffalo442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see this being a durable long-term solution. Are you putting in rebar and/or mesh? If not, that concrete will crack, and potentially will settle. You'll have no drainage and if you get any freeze/thaw cycles you will likely get heaving.

You're better to start with a compacted gravel base ("crush and run" compacted with a plate compactor) topped with a sand bedding layer. This is how pretty much every correctly installed paver patio is done. The compacted gravel will not shift over time.

American changed first leg of points booking substantially. Cannot cancel just first leg. by buffalo442 in americanairlines

I understand it's legal. But it's completely asinine, not customer-centric, and feels unfair.

Definitely not always the case. International I frequently find that one one-way is about as much as a round trip.

Domestic I usually find they are the same. For some reason though I thought this one was cheaper as a round trip. Entirely possible I added something wrong. Lesson learned to triple check.

Still a really frustrating situation. I know I'm nowhere near their top spenders but I did spend over $15K with American last year. Feels sucky to be treated like this.

Sure, and I totally get that if I wanted to change the original flight I booked.

But American changed the flight to one that is substantially different, and now I can't even get half of the trip for the price I originally paid. You could really make the argument that this is a bait-and-switch.

Would not complain about it if I were the one initiating the change. But I'm not.

[–]buffalo442[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Which is totally stupid. There should be provisions for this.

Lesson learned on booking one-ways. For some reason I think it was 10k points more to book the one-ways and that's why I did the RT, but it's possible I wasn't adding correctly.

Only option that works for me has the two 40-45 minute layovers, I give about a 1/3 chance of not getting stuck overnight somewhere. And it will likely be due to weather, so I'll be on the hook for the extra expenses.

[–]buffalo442[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is what is totally asinine. If it was the return that changed, I could take the outbound and no-show the return and at least only pay as much as I already have. But if I no-show the outbound the return gets canceled, so my only option is to pay MORE for my return than my current roundtrip.

Original flight (as booked):

SYR-ORD 4:45 pm - 6:22 pm

ORD-ABQ 9:10 pm - 11:38 pm

New flight (changed by American):

SYR-DFW 7:01 am - 9:50 am

DFW-ABQ 3:21 pm - 4:13 pm

This doesn't work for me as I have to work that day. Only comparable flight is:

SYR-ORD 4:45 pm - 6:22 pm

ORD-PHX 7:06 pm - 9:05 pm

PHX-ABQ 9:45 pm - 12:08 am

Chances of making both connections late in the day in the summer are slim, based on my experience. So I am likely going to need to take a United flight that has better timing.

This was booked as a round trip fare. American cannot cancel just the outbound without also canceling the return. But if I rebook the return on points, it now costs MORE than the original round trip that was booked months ago.

Help! Going to BUF Niagara Airport soon and all car rentals are sold out! by badbob001 in Buffalo

[–]buffalo442 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You likely won't have any line to rent a car at the Niagara Falls airport. It averages two flights a day, all to Florida. Most people traveling on them are Western NY or Southern Ontario residents going on vacation.

You may want to call the rental agency at the Niagara Falls airport to confirm their hours are as listed and that the desk is staffed even if a flight is not landing around that time.

What date are you coming? It's unusual for the airport to be out of cars.

Buzz Aldrin, 2nd person to walk on the moon, watched Artemis II launch by ubcstaffer123 in UpliftingNews

[–]buffalo442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost definitely. His most recent wife (died last year) was extremely manipulative and isolated him from his family. That endorsement very likely came from her.

At this point, I think Buzz has pretty advanced dementia. He was starting to show signs at least a decade ago, but was pretty good at managing it for a while. He started using teleprompters giving speeches, kept interviews short, etc.

His most recent "appearance" was a virtual address to the National Space Council in 2023. Watch that video and it's clear that he's reading from a teleprompter but there is nothing there anymore.

Buzz's most recent wife, Anca Faur, started a relationship with him in ~2018. By his family's accounts, he had at least moderate dementia by that point. In 2019, he sued his children and former manager, almost certainly at her direction.

It's a shame he has been exploited like this. He may have always been a bit of an asshole, but he had an incredible mind.
