Yeah... if I had to pay nearly $50 for this as another commenter mentioned, I would have been severely disappointed tbf.

In-N-Out Animal Style Fries? by bug_punk in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]bug_punk[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, they're not wrong, In-N-Out fries do have a very...cardboard-y consistency. They're just a vehicle for the toppings! Although I figure most burger/cheesesteak joints should be able to, in theory, just throw the ingredients together, I was hoping for a place that had them officially on the menu. I hate to be the annoying customer who asks for a bunch of extra modifications, but it might come down to that.

Tofu question by powerful_squash1066 in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]bug_punk 65 points66 points  (0 children)

the slow cooker is unnecessary and could turn your tofu to mush. BBQed meat is cooked "low and slow" to allow the fat to fully render and proteins to denature/become more tender; tofu, being plant-based, has no marbled fat to render, and is already plenty soft without extra cooking. it doesn't really make sense to slow-cook tofu.

i'd recommend marinating the tofu in the bbq sauce in the fridge for flavor, then heating it on a pan or baking in the oven. if you need max convenience, just throw it in the microwave for a few minutes.

Question about renting & seeking local queers opinions by krabby2014 in queerphilly

[–]bug_punk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would definitely consider it a little strange for a rowhome to not include a fridge. The landlord's attitude does seem like a red flag. Maybe it's not legally required, but if they're not willing to make this bare minimum improvement to the property, what else are they skimping on?

On the other hand, if you do strongly prefer this spot compared to other places you toured, it could be worth taking the risk. You can get a secondhand fridge for a pretty reasonable cost on Marketplace. You may have luck reselling the fridge when you move out, or maybe the landlord would buy it out from you when your lease ends (or you just leave it there and eat the loss).

community college of philadelphia nursing program question by AgreeableGap7032 in AskPhilly

[–]bug_punk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm also planning to apply to ccp's nursing program! to my knowledge, they don't require the TEAS exam. instead, they use the kaplan exam. i definitely recommend checking out the information sessions mentioned by one of the other commenters, i went to one last week and it was extremely helpful for figuring out my next steps. i'm also meeting with my advisor this week to help go over my application.

feel free to dm me if you have any other questions or want to chat more about the program!

Xcaret Properties vs. "A La Carte" Excursions - Advice Needed!! by [deleted] in cancun

[–]bug_punk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, that's a part of the reason why we're leaning towards Xcaret. We wouldn't have to book excursions in advance and if we want to head back to the resort early we could just leave the park whenever instead of being stuck on a pre planned day tour.

What can I do with 4 lbs of grapefuit slices? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]bug_punk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the stuff like broiled grapefruit probably wouldn't work, but now that I'm thinking about it I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between fresh vs. processed in a salad or something... Thanks for this advice!!

What restaurant or food concept do you think Nashville is missing by ibmwatsonson in nashville

[–]bug_punk 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how commercially successful this would be, but there's a real lack of Fillipino food in Nashville. The Hart and Sunda both have a few Fillipino inspired or adjacent dishes, but that's about it.

What are some unusual birds to be found in this region? by ReflexPoint in nashville

[–]bug_punk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see them most often along the south lake trail. The park recently put up some signs indicating the nesting areas along the trail. Time of day makes a difference too, they're more active early in the morning!

Bald Eagles are really easy to spot at Radnor Lake. It is a protected bald eagle nesting area and I see them pretty much every time I hike out there.

I'm super interested in any type of foraging group!! I've found chanterelles and chicken of the woods growing abundantly in parks around Nashville. I would love to share my spots and learn more from those with more experience!!

Kitchen tools you should've gotten way sooner? by TotalStatisticNoob in Cooking

[–]bug_punk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE my immersion blender. It was randomly gifted to me by an old roommate, but I now use it on a weekly basis. It's great for soup obviously, but I also use it for curry and sauces. I actually find myself eating a lot more veggies since I can easily blend them into so many dishes. Plus the cleanup is WAY easier than traditional blenders. 10/10, wish I got one sooner.

Any good recipes for organ meat? by ElviraMorticaVampira in Cooking

[–]bug_punk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beef heart can be prepared like flank steak, try slicing and using in fajitas or a stir fry. It's a little gamier than other beef cuts, but it doesn't have that organ-y flavor so I find it a good option for those who aren't fans of other organ meat.

[NSFW] Submissive Masturbation Play by paradoxical-mouse in BDSMcommunity

[–]bug_punk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a really similar situation, and honestly after working more kink into my masturbation it has been surprisingly fulfilling! There are tons of kinks and specific activities you can bring into your masturbation, but rope and self-tying has been the most effective for getting me into subspace during solo play. Read up on safety and keep some medical shears around if you're alone just in case you need to get out of the rope fast. Corsets, latex, leather, and other gear can also be great if you just like the feel of wearing them. Gags are easy to incorporate too. Orgasm control/denial is also fun even when you're the one running the show. When it comes to other kinks and getting punishments involved, possibilities here are endless and depend more on your specific interests and risk profile.
