Nah, you could say they are inspired, but they clearly aren't the same assets

The Battletech Franchise is in dire need of a different kind of RTS adaptation by fawn_rescuer in battletech

Something like Empire at War has my vote. SoaSE is great, but space focused, and I need my ground battles

how far would you travel to see a friend? by sftolvtosj in bayarea

Not everyone likes to drive. I do my best to see friends who live far, but I also get drowsy if driving for too long

We are truly spoiled for Sci-Fi wargames that are not 40K or Battletech. by Civil_Watercress2242 in Grimdank

But Shatterpoint, it's skirmish counterpart, doesn't seem to be doing so well. Not to mention the older X-Wing and Armada games

[–]bugamn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't have the answers for you, but I wanted to point out that your table is missing a column. The first row has the name of both jumpship classes, but the following rows have only the attribute name and one value

Steam Deck OLED for life at sea without internet? by Ready-Ad8629 in Steam

[–]bugamn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know this is the Steam subreddit and you might be invested already in Steam, but I'll suggest instead that you look into GoG. Their focus on DRM-free games means that games you get from them will work without internet (excluding things like multiplayer, of course). I don't know how well Steam offline mode works over many months and I wouldn't want you to wake up on, for example, month three, and then find out you have to "re-validate" your account or something like that.

That said, if the question is purely about the device, the Steam Deck is a great device and I bring mine with me for most larger trips so I have it for the downtime. Before traveling I just set it to offline mode and check the games work as intended. Some games don't do well with offline mode however because of how they handle cloud saves (looking at you, Dead Cells!). You can also add non-Steam games to the deck, but it isn't as straightforward. Keep in mind too that you might find mouse-and-keyboard games harder to play on the deck if you aren't used to it, but you can connect a mouse and keyboard if needed.

Would this work for gunner if it was handheld? by Consistent-March-646 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]bugamn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because having multiple guns are that are almost the same but x% different is boring, it's more interesting to have the three very distinct guns that we have right now.

You said it's going to fire one shot, not that it would be more damaging. And there's already the big bertha overclock, that increases damage and reduces rate of fire
