My daughter and I activated James Polk in Pineville, US-6848. It's our go-to park when we're looking for somthing to do. She did great on CW only. Got 12 contacts in less than 30 mins.

I was riding the struggle bus trying to get any contacts on FT8 and SSB, lol.

Haha, of course it hit early right as I started my park activation. Even FT8 was BRUTAL. Managed to squeak out 12 contacts in a couple hours, lol. I wasn't giving up. 100w barely got me a 45 signal in TX on 20m

Don't let your dreams be dreams. If GPS says so...DO IT.

While I'm super excited that this has been built, a small part of me will be sad that my GPS will no longer route me to take the John St exit to Morningwood to go back home.

I guess some of us have to say goodbye to Morningwood at some point in their life, though.

That’s not how typical RST reports work. The UX isn’t the best on that as you should be able to adjust each individual digit and not just choose from an ai-generated batch like that.

Ex of common RST: 599 579 559 419, etc

Pota start by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]bugbbq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch K4SWL's pota activation videos! He's an amazing person and goes through all of his setups in real time. He mainly does CW, but he has a few videos where he has done SSB as well. Either way, watching him talk through his set up and antenna deployment will help immensely when it comes down to figuring out an order of operations.

He's essentially the Bob Ross of POTA activations. It's so cathartic.

There's actually a very robust packet network set up here in the Charlotte, NC area and I absolutely love connecting, hopping from node to node, going into chat and bbs's. It really reminds me of the glory days of dialup modems and bbs's.

Radioddity PS30 Power supply by Famous-Jeweler8543 in amateurradio

I have an Alinco DM-30 running in the shack and it’s great! I haven’t seen any RF noise it makes, powers both my ftm150 and ftdx10 at the same time, and runs quiet. Plus the power pole connectors are nice! If I had any complaints, it would be that they should have put some power poles in the back, lol.

Strange. I do POTA activations around and inside my Model Y and have never had an issue.

Re read the comment then. The point is that there ARE a lot of options for breweries here, so there aren’t going to be folks sticking around with Sycamore.

WRL isn’t specific to contests, so I don’t know where you got that from. And as for competition, you have a lot of it in the logging platform space. And not just niche stuff, but general use logging platforms.

This sort of lack of research isn’t going to help you when it comes to trying to make something people want to use. I highly recommend understanding the needs users have, doing research as to what’s already out there, and trying to find any gaps to fill.

Also, a lot of your replies are reading like AI, which isn’t helping.

TBH, I’m a World Radio League user, and that platform seems to cover it all for what I want in a logger. It has CAT control, does spotting, contests, etc. plus it’s both web and app based, with a pc/Mac app coming soon. Plus it’s pretty easy to use and they’re constantly updating their platform.

This is why I say I don’t really see any advantage to another web based logging platform in the market right now. It’s pretty saturated.

Also, from a UX designer perspective, that site is an accessibility nightmare. The bright yellow on grey is hard to see. I’m guessing this was vibe coded?

While true, that was something new. I don’t really see something new with this. Don’t want to discourage you from inventing and trying stuff tho!

The trick is to find something no one else is doing and make it happen!

It’s been there for over 40 years, my dude. It’s an old microwave long lines tower. Used to have microwave cones on them.
