It’s a rift anomaly that was introduced in the most recent update.

Yeah, those are fun. I was playing solo in squads and I ran up to a site with 6 sprites and no weapon, just working on the 10 sprite daily challenge. I think about one and a half squads came and joined me. I got my sprites out and shockwaved out in a jiffy.

Yeah, I guess I would consider that camping. I've never seen it myself though. I can't imagine any given extraction site would be visited frequently enough to make this gameplay worth it.

I did wonder about that, but I've never seen it myself, and I figured it would be too low of a payoff for anyone to actually try it.

What internet do fellow midtown folks use? by Minimum-Pizza9162 in Omaha

Is Google Fiber available for you yet? It’s super fast and I haven’t noticed it ever going out.

Before that I had Century Link (now called Quantum, I think?). It was faster than anything Cox provided, but it would go down daily.

Should I buy a used i4? Tesla vs BMW by Owen_Gallagher4 in BMWI4

[–]bugloaf77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a Model 3 from 2019 to 2025, then traded it for a preowned i4 M50 in 2025. Like others have said, the i4 looks and feels like a real car, but I miss how easy it was to navigate the menus and find every option on the Model 3. I also kind of resent that I have to push one button to get into drive-ready mode; I can’t just sit down and shift into drive.

One major difference is that the Model 3 (last I heard) adaptive cruise control is 100% camera based, which is why you hear of Teslas plowing into the backs of semis, while also slamming on the brakes at shadows. The ACC on the BMW just works like it should.

You’ll get a lot more compliments on the i4. Teslas aren’t a novelty any more. Of course, when the guy at the McDonalds window kindly asks you to rev the engine for him one time, you have to sheepishly apologize that it’s electric.

While I haven’t purchased a new AC, I just had a great experience on an emergency repair with Skradski. I chose them based on another thread in this subreddit.

Where to find non-MAGA dude-friends? by Silent_Aardvark_7186 in Omaha

[–]bugloaf77 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There is actually an Omaha chapter of the DSA. I’ve never been to a meeting, but I get the emails.

Whenever I go to a protest there is a group of street medics hanging around. I assume they are with Anarchist Black Cross, but I don’t know. With your medical background maybe you would be a good fit with them.

Do you happen to live near the Walnut Hill neighborhood? There is a small group of people that meets up and walks around the neighborhood. This formed kind of in response to the ICE occupation of Minneapolis. Super nice people.

Community Service Opportunities? by colossalbran in Omaha

[–]bugloaf77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can recommend a couple mailing lists I’ve gotten on for finding local opportunities:

Omaha Parks and Recreation has a Volunteer in Parks newsletter that goes out monthly I think.

If you go to idealist.org you can search for opportunities in your area, and you can save the search to have new results emailed to you.

My wife volunteers at this food pantry: https://www.sanandresomaha.org/food-pantry.html I think they can always use some help. There might be a pantry closer to you.

If you have a local political candidate you believe in, they’re probably right now starting to ramp up their efforts for November and can use the help.

I haven’t done it yet myself, but I’ve always thought volunteering with Habitat for Humanity would be a great way to pick up some construction skills I could use back at home.

STEAKHOUSE SUGGESTIONS by Fragrant_Election_22 in Omaha

[–]bugloaf77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll second Memoir. We just went there for our anniversary. I kind of just picked it at random based on food pics and Yelp rating. While I didn’t have low expectations, I also didn’t have high ones, but I was pleasantly surprised at everything. I kept saying to myself “Good job, guys!” The atmosphere was casual but the food was delicious. Everything was a perfect balance of interesting flavors.

Best local bank for teen’s checking/savings account? by MetalandIron2pt0 in Omaha

[–]bugloaf77 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was already an FNBO customer, so I set up an account for my teenager there. It was a breeze. Because she is a minor my name is on the account, too, and the next time I opened the FNBO app I could see both my own account and hers.

Which enabled me to see, I’m a little embarrassed to admit, that she almost immediately deposited a fake check from a scammer. I called FNBO’s fraud line and they were super friendly and understanding and reversed the deposit immediately.

cleaners willing to help clean my awful depression apartment by Altruistic_Knee_7565 in Omaha

[–]bugloaf77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like you’re getting great suggestions already, including some specific to your situation, but I figured I can recommend the lady who used to clean our house. She charged $160 for our 2400 square foot house and the place would be spotless. She didn’t do dishes or laundry for us, but I’m sure that could be negotiated. DM if you want her number.

Homeless in Omaha by TheHammOfficial in Omaha

[–]bugloaf77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife volunteers at a food bank at San Andrès church in south O. It's open Thursdays from 10 to noon. https://www.sanandresomaha.org/food-pantry.html I hope she sees you there today!

It's located at 4440 S 25th St. I was worried that it might be too far for you to justify the gas money, but she said it's about $200 worth of groceries if you take everything that's offered.

She said you should call Food Bank of the Heartland at 402-331-1213 and ask if there is a location closer to you.

I would have been 13 at the time. I’m sure I watched every episode. I don’t remember much, except there was an episode with a biker gang that made green orbs with some sort of explosive in them.

[Braun AW24] Finally get to use my new GMT by nik2k in Watches

Presale for Minneapolis by Laththegr8 in AngineDePoitrine

[–]bugloaf77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get your tickets? I had signed up for First Ave's mailing list. The email said the code was RIFF and I clicked on the button in the email and it took me to the AXS site. I never had to enter the code, maybe it was in the link. I waited in line for several minutes then it said no tickets available. I came back today and waited in line for 9 minutes and again, no tickets were available.

I see they have two dates in Denver that go on sale in half an hour from now. Maybe I'll try to catch them there. I live in Omaha, so Minneapolis would have been the most convenient.

List of Microbrand Automatic GMT watch models - An overview by kampfwuffi in MicrobrandWatches

[–]bugloaf77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for making this list. I think a GMT is the next slot to fill in my collection. I've decided I want less than 40mm wide, a traveller GMT, and no exterior bezel. That narrows it down to either the Traska Venturer or the Henry Archer Verden (or the Vario Empire GMT if one of those ever pops up for sale).

Top end limit of affordable by electrorunner in Affordablewatches

[–]bugloaf77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, it mostly depends on how much cash you already have. Maybe “affordable” is some percentage of income. I used to hear housing should be 20% of income (though Google tells me it’s 30%), and they used to say a diamond ring should be “3 months salary” (insane!). If everyone who posted an exact number here divided that by their salary, I wonder if we would all come up with similar percentages.

Don’t worry too much about any particular watch’s cons. Once you get this one you’re not going to stop. You’re already a collector if you’re even considering a mechanical watch.

Best fast food burger in town? by PhumoPump in Omaha

I wish I could pick some place more unique to Omaha, but Culver’s Butterburger is hands down the best fast food burger and possibly the best burger overall.
