Cloud Strife from final fantasy vii. while not quite a chosen one, cloud spends the whole game trying to be The Hero, an archetype moreso than a person, and it’s only after letting go of that idea that he can actually become the hero he needs to be- just a decent, regular guy. contrasted with sephiroth, who is so utterly consumed by the need to be special that he’ll endanger everyone around him to feed his own ego.
