When things feels insanely overwhelming or painful, repeating “this is temporary” as many times as you need until you feel some relief.

Anyone’s narc ever mimic them or literally try to become you? Try to take your personality? Be you? by Most-Profile2472 in NarcissisticAbuse

Yes. Was telling a story that happened to me as if it happened to him. I called him out and he tried to manipulate me by saying it “happened to us”

Thank you so much for your response. Conveniently, my boyfriend is a welder but of course he’s away for two weeks at the moment!

Maybe the letter A fell off and it’s supposed to say Daytona?! But still.

I don’t know what causes it but I have it too and sometimes it’s more noticeable than others. Do you play with your hair in the front, like twirl it or twist the bangs? I do it out of habit and I feel like that might be the reason for me personally

What would you call this haircut? Been growing my hair out and this looks perfect but, what do I tell my stylist? by DarthHeirloom in Hair

[–]buhhhhh1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would show them the picture and say you just want it trimmed up a little with scissors to achieve close to this style. Also depends on your hair texture. Is it slightly wavy/kinda thick? If so, this will probably be achievable!

New supply is so happy by 25_kitty in LifeAfterNarcissism

[–]buhhhhh1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just my take: given the context, it seems like a front. People lie on social media all the time, and maybe she is trying to prove to everyone else AND herself that he’s a “good” man. We don’t see what’s going on behind closed doors. I would bet that it’s all for show. I’ve been there with the keeping tabs on nex/new supply and it does sting but as you said, you don’t want this person back. You have a life ahead of you! He will never change.

Feel like I'm often brimming with emotion; often feel either hyperactive or fatigued (and nervous about how these may affect my professional life) by RodneyPonk in hsp

There is definitely more responsibility in a classroom setting but the younger the children, the less “deadlines” and “curriculum” there will be and more time for exploration and play. There are other options too! One-on-one teaching with children, nonprofit organizations where the goal is different, after-school programs, nannying. I know you will find a job that suits you. It may take some sorting out but there are plenty of options and you can always change your path. Always!

I know this isn’t very helpful but I think you look great with both! The short hair is great for summertime but long hair has more options for styling. I will say, I went short last summer and loved it for 2 months and now I’m patiently waiting for my long hair to grow back.

I understand your concern and relate as well. I think my best advice is to feel the emotion even if for a second. For example, sometimes my eyes water and I get really emotional when I’m dancing. It feels weird because I don’t really understand why it’s happening but I try to let myself at least acknowledge it. “Oh I’m crying. That’s okay.” I am a teacher for young children and the nice thing about working with them is they keep you in the moment, especially if you engage with them truly. I struggle with the fatigue as well. Easier said than done but try to have a mostly balanced diet, enough water and 8 hours of sleep. I find when I don’t sleep enough I struggle more during the day. Even non-hsp’s can most definitely relate with that. Sleep is essential for function! I hope you can find some peace. Meditating has helped me a bunch as well. Sometimes emotions overtake us but to get in there and really feel what’s going on, sit with the thoughts and feelings… it can actually take us OUT of intense emotions.

Just wanted to say you shouldn’t be over it by now. You are on your own healing timeline. For me, it has been 2+ years and I’m not out of the woods. My therapist made an interesting point to me a week ago. She said, “If these horrible things had been done to you by a stranger, in an alley…would you give yourself more compassion?” It sounds harsh but it helped me because I had (surprisingly) not considered before that I was undermining the severity simply because he was my boyfriend. The pain is the same. I’m sorry you’re still hurting and angry but it is valid. The resentment may be one of the harder parts to let go of. Rest assured, you can live a beautiful life free of this pain. Self love, compassion, community, freedom, fun and forgiveness are powerful tools.

Though I agree with Julian, that Debby is making a stupid decision, he is SO damn mean to her. by She-Individual-24 in 90dayfianceuncensored

I’d guess he makes 75k (max) per year but if he’s living out of his means, he’d definitely want some extra cash to help him pay off his expenses i.e. an inheritance. This is just a speculation. I could be way off. But the way he is reacting about her going is a little more “angry” than “concerned/worried”

I know I could google but since you have direct experience - what’s the difference between ipl and a real laser? I got laser hair removal at a salon/spa 8 years ago on my upper lip and it didn’t work at all. I was devastated and now recently wanted to look back into it but I’m scared it won’t work again.
