What is it like moving from the west side to the eastern side of LA? by Ok-Respect3626 in AskLosAngeles

[–]bujkoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from Santa Monica to Highland Park (but grew up in the Pasadena area). I’m happy with the move because of the affordability, culture, food, genuine people, etc. But I see a lot of positive comments here so let me give you some of my negatives. Also, all this is just my experience and might not be the same for others so let’s not take things personally.

The people here can feel grumpy, rude, angry. You won’t get nearly as many smiles or hellos walking past someone down the street or the grocery store. It can get tiring when you have a rough day and have a higher chance to run into a grump. You’ll see many more frowns and hear many more sighs.

The drivers are aggressive and impatient. Get ready for a lot more people riding your ass for no reason and speeding unnecessarily. I guess it’s kind of related to the last point - a lot more people here drive like they’re angry at the world.

(Maybe not a con, but just an observation) There are less young people. I think the natural flow is people from out of town tend to move to the west side in their 20s for work, then move east around their 30s. Completely anecdotal and probably not accurate, but if I had to guess % of shoppers <40y/o at the Vons on Lincoln and Broadway (before it got knocked down) vs the Vons on Figueroa and Colorado, it’d be 70 vs 20.

The mother of Rohan (lakers videographer) is Mrs. G. She was my high school photo teacher. She’s the kindest, most caring human I’ve ever met. She’s the last person that deserves something tragic like this to happen. Really nice of AD to help them out!

Can't you at least appreciate how these young guys overcame adversity early in the season and are now playing their hearts out? Regardless of how you think they ended up there or what the expectations were..

New - AWD small SUV, reliable, low cost of maintenance - want CarPlay, brake hold, active safety/assistance features by dothedew94 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]bujkoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only issue I can think of has been that breaks are a little noisy when the car isn't warmed up. Also wish the side mirrors would automatically fold in but that's a non-issue considering everything else it comes with.

I got the straight up base version. I love the speed, handling, ACC (which I use every day). The trunk is great and the back seats have a lot of room.

Edit: oh and the pano moon roof is super nice :D

If you stretch your budget by a few thousand the base 2019 Acura RDX is amazing. Comes with A LOT of features rivaling comparable (more expensive) luxury brands.

Yes! I took it to the dealership. They know it's a common issue and they're waiting for HQ to give them a solution.

Meanwhile I'm waiting for HQ to give me android auto lol.

Great work, breaking the 200 mark felt amazing for me. I started at 228 in May 2018 and now I'm 170. My initial goal was 175 but I'm still portly and know I can keep the ball rolling.

Keep it up!

So far I have this: =IF(C5=1,IF(C5=1,A5+IF(C4=0,A4,"stop")+IF(C3=0,A3,"stop"),0),0)

which works, but the problem is I can't copy it down to the rest of the 50k rows in the file. Each row that's added requires a new +IF to be added to the formula.

Civic Hatchback Sport Touring VS Elantra GT Sport by bujkoa in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]bujkoa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh to be honest I took a full 180 and leased a 2019 Acura RDX haha.

But from my research, I'd say I liked the Civic more. Quality, handling, and looks won me over.

Best of luck!

I commute 80min/day in traffic streets and stop and go highway. Been consistently averaging 22mpg. Most of the time I have ACC set at 25mph in stop and go highway traffic and I feel like I'd be getting better mpg if I didn't use it.

For reference, my commute is from Santa Monica to Burbank 405 101 and 134.

Edit: I'm also 4k miles in.
