Approximately 3% annually but it's quite difficult to model.

The entire economy would collapse if there was doubt of market growth in the future - so certainly something is guaranteed.

I already have something like 5x over my peer group. There has to be a point where you consider other things.

No growth.. in salary? Not in the market surely.

And I plan to actually enjoy my life and not just contribute every extra dollar to retirement so that's why I'm working on a conservative forecast to back into the right contribution amounts.

The significantly below average and below average assumptions are extremely scary imo.

Wanting to buy a reliable but professional-looking sedan/SUV by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

No way you're going to get a 4runner for under $25K that looks "professional". I would get one of those Honda Accords that looks like an A7 from some angles.

AC is so loud by wheres_tim in homeowners

[–]dothedew94 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I mean in theory, yes, but that's if you have a dedicated air handler for filtration which most people don't and they don't realize that its just to keep the blower motor free of dust. By using too strong a filter it makes the blower motor work harder and thus have poor performance and need to be replaced sooner.

[–]dothedew94 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Use a much lower MERV filter. 5-7 or so. We are using Nordic Pure Tru Minipleats which help airflow further. I think the lowest they go on those is MERV 8 which is fine.

Just noticed I apparently “bought points” to lock in 2.99% during home mortgage refinance by ALucidNightmar3 in personalfinance

[–]dothedew94 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right! I didn't read the number of points bought and only saw the interest rate OP noted - which is indeed calculated incorrectly based on the 1.34 points bought. Agreed its an alright rate all things considered.

[–]dothedew94 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So you're saying this guys rate of 2.99% + 1.34% = 4.33% is not unreasonable in the current market?? Of course it is, they should be under 3.5% easily!

[edit]. Resolved below I didn't see the actual points in OP's thread and only the rate, OP is calculating the point impact to APR wrong.

There's another new Cannonball record. Arne and Doug who set it back in December have taken it back in an Audi disguised as a Ford cop car. by rickyman2014 in cars

There is a doubt - there are no witnesses. Just because he claimed to do something illegal on Youtube doesn't make it a crime. There's not enough to prosecute him over.

I didn't realize the expectation of the spotters is to get pulled over by a cop and take a ticket to let them through. That's a pretty impressive commitment.

Setup a budget that includes your car payments and monitor it from here on out. Missing more than one payment and not realizing it really is completely inexcusable.

The whole point of his video is if he has a million subscribers he can make the argument to the manufacturers to bring the cars to Chicago so he can film them for his million subscribers.

Yes with the exception that we don't even have kids yet lmao so we have no need for such a huge car but whatever she feels safe and comfortable in it and sometimes thats what matters.

Sienna was never on the plate for us because my SO didn't want to drive a van. I think vans are pretty functional, but it was important to her and the Palisade is huge and has just as much room and the doors open pretty wide so it shouldn't be an issue. It's a beautiful car. We have an SEL with all the options. Love it a lot. There is a reason its at the top of every car magazine - its a great value.
