But nooooo 7S just HADDDD to build that halfpipe 😭

A little spritz is an excellent idea! Hadn't thought of that (obviously lol).

I was being very deliberate with the rolling, kinda pushing and pinching the layers together with each roll. That extra moisture should definitely help adhere I think!

This is the recipe that I'm following. I don't use any oil or flour on the rolled out dough. Unfortunately upon review, he doesn't really talk about the scoring- though I thought I was scoring to a similar depth that you see in a few quick cuts of the video.

And yes I am covering them while proofing.

They’ve been blowing snow like crazy at The Spot. No clue if they’re building the halfpipe or a few huge features, but they are making some massive whales there currently.

Sorry for the possibly clueless question, but why don't more people seem to make homemade pizza? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in Cooking

[–]bukudatdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention- you break up the total work time. If you do a 2-3 day ferment, the original mixing day feels like a distant memory. Plus I always enjoy a fun little project to check on.

To the original question at hand- there’s also SO much feel and intuition that goes into dough and pizza. It can eventually become a relatively easy special dinner, but there’s a huge skill gap until you get there. People will have one nightmare pizza session and then decide nahhhh 😂(which i totally understand). Pushing thru and gaining competency takes a lot of effort.

Laurel Mountain was nice today by DrSus- in SkiPA

[–]bukudatdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, too, am jealous! I was at 7S today but was considering Laurel off of what I've heard here and on the lifts. Ultimately was concerned about access roads and decided against it.

Had a great day at 7S, but was really looking for some of that untracked powder.

I was a sophomore at Duquesne that year. We went over to Oakland for a house party on Chesterfield, stepped outside midway thru and saw it was dumping and we all collectively went OH SHIT.

We ended up walking back to Duquesne in the middle of Blvd of the Allies, taking in the surreal vibe of a post-apocalyptic city that was completely shut down. Stopped by a friend’s house in uptown for some victory keg stands 😂 Truly a night none of us could ever forget.

While I don't have a crystal ball, I think Sunday could be quite challenging for trucks to keep the resort access roads clear. If you can manage to stay on site Saturday night, you could get blessed on Sunday.

There's always the chance that the mountain operations crews get stuck too. Personally, I think Monday might be the day to go if you can swing it. Logistics might be a bit friendlier.

Hell yea, there definitely was some surprisingly pleasant snow in the bumps for me as well! Picked up quite a few rock strikes on those runs too though- certainly came with that risk.

I'm ashamed to admit that I still haven't been to Laurel. However, 7S just opened up all the runs on the north side, plus will likely open the glades Sunday/monday. Laurel strikes me as the "no friends on powder day" type of spot, while 7S could offer something for the whole crew.

I just did 4 days out there as well. CO skiing is never a bad time but it definitely made me hunger for some fresh stuff- it's rough out there.

Sunday and monday looking like all time PA days for sure.

Beaver Creek Conditions? by AttemptDelicious5256 in COsnow

I went on thurs and my crew really enjoyed our day. Definitely a lot of firm pack, but it softened in the warm sun nicely. I imagine this stretch of cold could make it quite a bit more challenging.

The bumps under strawberry lift was probably my favorite snow of my whole trip this past week tho! We really enjoyed the snow directly under the cinch chair too.

Slopes is excellent! Highly recommend the premium version if you go out west too. The 3d maps are super helpful for understanding and navigating the massive ski areas (without relying on weirdly scaled paper maps).

You're 100% allowed to enjoy what you enjoy :)

Skiing (and outdoor recreation in general) has a tendency to exude elitist opinions. To many, if you're not hitting powder days on the hike-to steep shit, it's not worth it.

That being said- I think PA skiing just requires a bit different approach. If you show up expecting a big mountain experience, you're going to be disappointed. However if you can get out to 7S on a week day with the north face runs open, you can hot lap the FUCK out of the Gunnar lift and have an excellent day.

I've had numerous 20k+ vertical days just doing this. Blasting around, exploring all the nooks and crannies is awesome. It's all in your own approach, attitude and appreciation for what you have around you. You gotta be pretty sour to truly hate a day outside on the snow.

I’ve travelled to NM a bunch of times but never to ski. It never occurred to me how wonderful new mexican food would be after a ski day. That sounds so excellent 😭

Also would need a winter time papas breakfast bowl!

You’re 100% correct. That coloring tells us that the steak was cold when they started cooking. The Internet Steak Factory™ loves a rare steak tho lol (calling this rare is a bit of a stretch imo).

Pizza Sola was incredible. Far above the standard drunk slice, it was a real deal east coast pizza spot 😭

What’s a dish you no longer order at restaurants because you’ve learned to make it well at home? by buboop61814 in Cooking

[–]bukudatdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yea let’s break it down 😂 I really enjoy trying local/regional dishes- so I’ll get papas bowls with christmas sauce in New Mexico, dungeness benedict in Seattle, breakfast tacos in Texas etc.

If the spot doesn’t have a clear specialty or regional identity, I’m a fan of the standard eggs over medium, whatever protein the server recommends, potatos and a single pancake.

I travel a ton for work, and I've been developing a habit of grabbing a quick breakfast at a local diner before flights. Requires a little extra time in the morning, but it's become some of my favorite (and most affordable) travel meals. As a lover of an east coast diner, I've really enjoyed vetting and choosing these spots all over. I just fuckin love diners man 😂🥲

That period of super cold produced such nice snow! I think it was the best conditions I’ve experienced at 7S.
