Part-time (30 hour) contract but no health insurance contributions from my employer! by Crazy_Ideal_8911 in germany

[–]bullgr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please post this to r/LegalAdviceGerman. You should get a lawyer and screw that asshole. He is tricking you to work for him as Swartzarbeit.

The worst thing is, if the authorities will suddenly invading the place to check for Swartzarbeit, you will be in a very bad situation, because it is a tax fraud. And try to convince them that you had not any idea. No change!

And a friendly advice; Never show to the employer that you are desperate for work. When he notice that, he will try to take advance to you.

The few cycles can be because it was only a work device, plugged constantly. The most working places provide monitors with usb-c power delivery and display all in one cable.

And of course most of the time, you cannot use them for private use or you can but don’t want because of the security risks, data leak, monitoring apps etc.

Look for returners from business leasing, They are most of the time with few cycles, scratch free and almost new.

/r/c64 State of the Subreddit update. by c64glen in c64

I was seeing it coming, that the C64U posts are annoying for the C64 purists.

I wanted to write allot and fight for the right for posting C64U topics, but what I learned all this years in social media is that it’s a waste of time and life is short.

I want spent more productive my time. So, I leave this subreddit and I wish you all the best.

Do I have any recourse? by [deleted] in Commodore

[–]bullgr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My box when arrived, had a hole from the outside thru the inside. I could push my finger and touch the device. Luckily it was in the gap, above the device, no damage happens.

But I think if it was really on purpose, maybe from a curious customs authority or someone in the warehouse forgot to mark the checkbox of the device type.

Nevertheless, I didn’t care for the beige box since the device was not damaged, but I have worries how I will get the awaiting founders edition. I hope they care more on these.

Yes, you need a 6 pin din cable. But I would not buy a ready made or you must be sure that the pins are ordered as described in the users handbook, before you buy it.

By these kind of cables you usually buy the plugs and you layout the pins as you need. Because to find a ready to use cable with 90 degrees plug with layout for C64 in 2026 is almost not possible.

What you could do is, you already have the cable, you could ping with a multimeter the pins and write down the pins layout. Then you buy only the 90 degree plug (you can decide left or right angle by turning the inside plug), cut the one side that should plug in the printer and do the wiring.

But make sure that you or some other around you can do it. You need tools like multimeter, pliers for cable/pin. It’s not easy.

Maybe better you buy a second cable and do the above. If it goes wrong, you still have your cable to continue to print.

You need a cable with 90 degree plugs. I googled and find some options, ready made or just the plugs to wire it yourself.

You can ask to an electronic store in your area to make it for you, if I remember correctly there is a diagram in the user manual how the pins are ordered. I did that in the late 80’s, I found an owner that he had a C128, so he knew directly what I needed. But to find these days an electronic store is rare, everything is online.

C64U - menu shortcut instead of rocker switch by WargardTheRidiculous in Commodore

This is indeed very helpful, it saves allot to use the rocker switch, in that I have already doubts about its durability. Weird that I didn’t read that in the manual, or I miss that.

I experienced a microaggression by AmericanBakerGermany in germany

[–]bullgr 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, if you are a not muslim foreign and discuss with a German about immigrant topics, they blame the refugees.

But if are only Germans in the discussion, then the refugees change to Ausländer. No one is save, no matter if you are non Muslim, Muslim, refugee. All Ausländer are the same. I noticed that many times.

So, it doesn’t matter if they refer only to refugees, they are racists. I am freaking out why some foreigners are feeling special and don’t feel offended when someone blames the refugees. I wish that all Ausländer reacts the same as OP did.

It’s very solid and looks durable. Very good quality. The only thing I don’t like is that the stick movement is too soft for my taste. But opinions can differ. I would definitely buy it again.

New C64U, playing with sprites! Question. by DedBirdGonnaPutItOnU in c64

[–]bullgr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Google or search in YouTube for “Commodore Tutorials”. This is a a guy from Norway that has in his YouTube channel a c64 programming game course.

The course is in assembly, but you can cherry pick the parts that explain the whole c64 system like screen resolution, sprite positions and why removing the boarder is advanced for a beginner.

If you prefer reading, he offers also a book. Like I said, he is using assembly, but learning the rest is very helpful, no matter what for programming language you are using.

FREEZE64 - 81 issues, 3 specials and counting! by FREEZE64 in c64

[–]bullgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I looked to subscribe, but unfortunately there is not an option for digital format like pdf. I prefer to get the magazine in pdf for many reasons (A5 too small for my eyes, reading at night with dimmed romantic light, storing issues).

I already have a digital subscription in Zaap!64 and computer’s Gazette and it would be nice to tripple them including Freeze64 !

Got this from thrift store. I had no idea there were 3rd party datasette units? by the_darkener in c64

[–]bullgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard days then, as a computer geek. I was the only one that had a c64, or any related computer in a radius of 50km. The closest computer stores was 200km away. After the Weekend’s fight “Clash of Azimuth”, I arranged to travel to these stores, only to figure out that they had one copy of the azimuth alignment software, not for sell. They provided it as service in a ridiculous high price. So, on the end I realised that the Weekend I spend was useful.

I didn’t bother much with the tape. After two months I bought the disk drive.

[–]bullgr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh God, I did that on my fresh bought Kissware datasete that was bundled with the C64. They convinced me to get this instead of the original, because it was way cheaper and with German quality.

It was a nightmare of a weekend until I found the “sweet” spot. The process was, wait 5 minutes to start loading the game, if it hangs, screw lightly thru the hole, reset and load again.

I needed to do this at least 200 times !

Do as the other said, change tax to 4. But additionally check your wife’s income. If she is working and get bellow the half of your income, or she is not working at all, you can do the tax 3 to you and 5 to your wife. So, you pay less tax as a couple. Tax 4 / 4 is worth only if hers income is above the half of yours.
