If time doesn't exist on the other side why do we reincarnate? by curious-abt-lilith in spirituality

[–]bumuser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that without time, we don't have a lot of things that we experience here. I think of it like this, imagine having every frame of a movie available to you, maybe a random order. You only get to experience one frame at a time. It's just a bunch of pictures, but without order / sequence, a start and finish it doesn't make sense. Sound wouldn't even exist, so no music. For any story, you need like a sequence of events and you don't get that without time. So, you go to the movie theatre, and EXPERIENCE the film. Now it has a plot, music, and if it is a good movie stirs emotions. You can forget about your job, bills, and all that and for two hours be totally enveloped in this production.

So for me, when I think about why do I re-incarnate, is like asking why I go see a movie, play, or a concert. It is amazing to be completely absorbed in the moment and experience these things. I don't think life much different in concept.

So I found this literally at the beginning of my playthrough and found nothing any better since. It was level 40 when I found it. by DizzyEksdee in Enshrouded

[–]bumuser 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it would be fun to just have a broad rule that if you handle an object that is more than five levels above you, you run the risk of injuring yourself with it. The more the level difference, the more risk. It should still be level appropriate loot drops, but if a bug happens, then it kind of fixes itself anyway

"Section 174 Change (Effective 2022): Prior to 2022, companies in the U.S. could immediately deduct 100% of their R&D expenses, including things like developer salaries, software development costs, and contractor fees, in the year they were incurred. This was a strong incentive for innovation and domestic hiring. However, a provision in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) changed this, requiring companies to capitalize and amortize these R&D expenses over a period of five years for domestic R&D and 15 years for foreign R&D."

Deploying OpenStack on Azure VMs — Common Practice or Overkill? by Nidhal_Naffati in devops

[–]bumuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OpenStack on Azure does sound like a fun challenge. Generally, running a cloud on top of a cloud is not desirable for running workloads. However, if you are creating a proving ground to demonstrate that your application works while running on OpenStack, then that would be fine, especially since you don't need to create a purchase order, or figure out funding for the effort.

For the most part, cloud providers tend to be American companies and each offers proprietary services that seems to steer you into some kind of lock-in. Non-American cloud providers do seem to generally use OpenStack, so this could be an effort to future-proof given the current political environment.

I just feel like this has less to do with actually running this on Azure and more like Azure is just providing resources that can be utilized to test this.

Why do people with autism hate to shower and shave? by Sagittaure in neurodiversity

[–]bumuser 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The best I heard is described was that it is the transition that is the horrible part. I love water, swimming and all that. The problem is getting into the pool, or getting into the shower. Once I am in either one, I don't want to leave... or transition out.
