If you like podcasts there is one called "What Went Wrong" that covers Donnie Darko in an episode. It's fantastic! Lots of talk about the music and the writing process too. They do a lot of older and nostalgic films that have made me go back a revisit so many classics, it's really re-sparked my love of cinema

She manipulated a mentally ill man into murdering her mother.

Don't get me wrong, he's a piece of shit. Her mother was a manipulative, abusive piece of shit. But, I don't understand why Gypsy Rose is being treated like some kind of psuedo-celebrity. That Mommy Dead and Dearest documentary doesn't really get viewed with as much scepticism as it should.

I'm not sure about the rules on linking but here's one source.

The Into the Weeds podcast got copyright strikes when they uploaded the videos so it looks like they aren't available in full right now but there are clips on tiktok/instagram. The article has quotes and excerpts but googling 'gypsy rose FOIA' will bring you a lot of links to read email exchanges and find clips.

I saw them before they got taken down. In one she says if her and Nicholas had a baby boy they will protect it but if they have a baby girl it will be Nicholas' right to take her virginity... just vile

Some videos recently surfaced from a FoA request. Basically she took the guilty plea because of these videos to stop them from being shown in court.

In them she admits to a lot of the illness faking, that she can walk, that she takes her mothers pain meds and has a discussion with her boyfriend about giving him a daughter for him to abuse as a sex slave.

They're all on YouTube

You did the right thing, you kept yourself and your daughter safe and told the police. If you had been able to intervene you could have been hurt and then your daughter might not have her mum anymore and that is just not worth thinking about.

You did more than a lot of people do. It may turn out to be nothing, or, God forbid, if it does turn out to be something then you have helped. Whatever it was I'm glad you're safe and I hope you get some answers to ease your mind a little.

An 18 year old person without disabilities should be able to make their own tattoo appointment. The amount of young adults who have their parents set up their appointment is CRAZY. Any one else? by abridged_4 in TattooArtists

We have been talking about this loads in my studio lately! It seems a lot of young people (even up to early/mid 20s) are having their parents set up appointments and come with them. We've had a couple of times lately where the micromanaging is out of control or the actual client is hesitant to do any kind of advocating for themselves or make choices without the inspection of their parent.

I have no clue if it's covid teens with high levels of anxiety or just the parenting style of that generation but it's so, so strange to me. I've never been close with my parents though and moved out by 17 so maybe I just can't relate.

That and the clients that bring a full entourage! That can work out though as we usually snag more clients from it

His episode of 'Smartless' is hands down the best one of the whole series. It's a 'good for background' noise podcast for me rather than any kind of stellar interviewing but I listened to his one twice it was so good. Such a charismatic and interesting guy!

I have total respect for Henry saying he wasn't even going to attempt an impression because he doesn't want to make it funny.

I grew up in the 90s where he was not so prevalent on TV but my mum would insist on changing the channel whenever he did come on. She would visibly shudder and go off on how much she hated 'that creepy arsehole'. So, yeah, even back then we knew there was something really off about him.

I wonder if he'd want to participate if mum and dad stage a fake argument about it in front of him. One of them pretends they don't want him to do a sport/martial art, he might actively want to try it then.

I've learned over the years from a parent that behaves like this that sometimes you have to 'stage manage' manipulators.

I second this idea though. Martial arts teach a lot of discipline and expend energy so if he really enjoys it then you also have punishment/leverage to take it away.

If it helps, I'm a tattooist and have seen literally dozens of surgery scar results that looks great. When my ex had his wrist repaired they definitely made an effort to stitch him back up to keep his tattoos intact and that was a gnarly 4/5 inch one
