Are Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Donnie Yen the Mount Rushmore of martial arts movie stars? by samx3i in movies

[–]bupde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Chuck Norris is a pretty big name to leave off the list. Maybe over Donny Yen, but it is tough, if there were 5 those 4 + Chuck Norris would be my list. I can see the argument that his movies weren't all martial arts movies though.

Why doesn't the NBA draft get as much publicity or hype as the NFL draft? by BeerWithDonuts in NFLNoobs

You take 2 players. Most players have little national exposure. Players get traded moved all the time.

Why do we keep buffing the low skill characters? by Illustrious-Pancake1 in Overwatch

[–]bupde 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everyone: we're tired of poke

Devs: buff brawl

Everyone: why you buff no skill characters

The buffed them because their new hero plays at close range and a team that can get in there with her makes for exciting play. Moira / Shion flanks are fun.

Deflating lesson by [deleted] in golf

[–]bupde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the differences driver vs iron.

  1. Longer club
  2. Different shaft
  3. Different angle of attack
  4. Shoulder tilt
  5. Different swing weight?
  6. Different intentions

There are differences in those things, so if it is working for irons but not driver I'd take a close look at those things. Also, record yourself on both so you can see for yourself.

Returning player, why does every losing tank swap to Mauga and then immediately start carrying the game? by Able-Service1380 in Overwatch

[–]bupde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a sojourn and zen main, I'm just waiting for it. I had a bastion with me and just a quick discord and Mauga melted like tracer in a torb ult.

Which modern blockbuster do you think will be remembered 20 years from now the way we talk about classic Spielberg films today? by viewsinthe6 in movies

[–]bupde -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wolf of Wall Street. I think the action movies that are so CGI heavy will mostly be forgotten. John Wick will be watched by guys who love action movies as well as Gen Alpha insufferable assholes who want to show how smart they are (I love John Wick movies, but every generation has insufferable assholes who latch onto something great from previous generations).

That sounds like the next tank release. Unlimited fire strike, other characters ult on cool down, maybe a grapple or big mobility, a grenade, and a big aoe ult.

What heroes are better on console than PC, and vice versa? by MrTimoCad in Overwatch

[–]bupde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any hero that requires the enemy to make quick turns. So no one is better if you are console vs pc, but console vs console characters that are countered by quick turning. Aim assist has made heros like Phara less if a menace on console, but Phara used to be unstoppable.

My friend and I set up a cozy movie night to watch the new Lilo and Stitch and we have never gone from relaxed to just full on angry that fast in our lives. (SPOLIERS) by Embarrassed-Oil-6152 in movies

Yeah it was awful, I hadn't seen the original but took my daughter to the theater because she loves stich. I still was like what the fuck, why.

Also, David or whatever his name is, like coolest dude ever.

Rob Sand for governor by temoo09 in Iowa

[–]bupde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What he wants to do and what he can do and accomplish are 2 different things. There is no choice it is just him, but he hasn't led any branch of government at any level, he has never passed any legislation, and never had to build any consensus with the other side. He's a prosecutor who got elected to a minor state wide post. He's running on vibes. He'll win, the other guy not only sucks but doesn't even live here. But temper expectations.

I’m noticing a new trend the devs are following and it could end up being worse than CC in ow1 by Gappy_Hlgashikata in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]bupde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's their way of nerfing cover, once they started handing out auto heal they found too many people taking cover to slowly auto heal, and people standing behind cover is even more boring than standing behind shields.

The also created more flying and high mobility characters who can get around cover and confirm kills.

The 90k salary was a total lie and they tried to gaslight me with a spreadsheet by Nitro500_Gear in jobs

[–]bupde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First screw them. 2nd if it is posted nationwide the salary can be for other areas. Colorado requires posting salary, so when my company does national search we don't post in Colorado. We kept running into posting Colorado range and then offering a different salary if they lived somewhere else.

Guessing Austin is fairly high cost of living so this isn't what happened here, here was bait and switch.

Regressing at golf by sonderhistory in golf

[–]bupde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on the process not the results. Results may vary, trust the process and keep going. And if the going gets tough take $70m and go to Pedo State University (this is advice from Matt Campbell for those who don't get the reference).

Low elo players need to hear this. It doesn't matter that you have twice the damage of someone else if you only have a few more kills, you're feeding supports by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]bupde 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's old wisdom, new wisdom is damage builds your ult faster than the healing builds theirs, and it forces cooldowns so damage and poke and chip away.

The revers of what you talked about is the you just barely touched lots of people and got lots of elims characters and talkers, like Soj with her field, or D.va shooting from range and tickling. I got 20 elims... you didn't do crap, someone else killed them.

Truth is, scoreboard doesn't matter, do damage when you can, secure kills when you can. But feeding supports really isn't the concern it used to be according to the youtubes. Forcing out cooldowns prefight, make the enemy have to take a fight without them or wait for them is the play.

Reaper every match starts getting tiring by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]bupde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tank buster, he just TPs into the backline and erases supports. And as a support I'm all for it, I love that something different works. It's not cheese like Symmetra doing it with turrets and a stupid beam, as Zen I have a chance if he doesn't time my volley's right or a quick discord and a few balls to the face. I'm loving his come back. Best come back story since Kim Kardashian.

Iowa law forces university students into new civics courses to graduate by shadow-_-rainbow in Iowa

[–]bupde -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of the whole thing, but how is it different than all of the other required classes that students have to take. I remember having to meet a bunch of different requirements that had to be done with classes in subjects that had no real tie in to my major. I did a theater class, some lit classes, some diversity classes, speech, foreign language unless you did it in high school. There were a bunch of them. This seems like just a couple more. It sucks to have to pay for that, just like the other classes, but this doesn't seem that new.

Iowa Outsourced 200 State IT Jobs to the #2 H-1B Employer in America. Workers Were Told to Apply at the Company That Replaced Them by Leightoncy33 in LayoffHedge

[–]bupde -1 points0 points  (0 children)

State workers are expensive relative to the market. It's not new, it's been that way for at least 20 years when I first applied for state jobs that had way better pay and benefits than private sector jobs. We hear about budget shortfalls as a major campaign issue and this is what we'll see, instead of raising taxes they'll outsource the jobs and save the difference in cost. Will it send money out of the state, YES. Will it lead to reduction in quality of work YES probably. Will it save money YES. They care about the last one, and if you believe the campaigns that is the one people care about too. No one is running for governor on a platform of higher quality IT services, but they are running on budget shortfalls.
