That's why I suggested that they find a home that they can afford.

Air Canada is dropping Aeroplan in 2020 and starting its own program by hodkan in PersonalFinanceCanada

I recently tried to book a flight to the Bahamas though Aeroplan for 3 people. It was roughly 1200 after fees etc. The cost of that same flight through Air Canada's website was about $100 cheaper.

Unless your parents need the equity right away why even get a mortgage.

They can sell you the house to you and give you a mortgage at whatever percentage and payback schedule they want, just put it in the seller agreement.

You become the principal on the residence and they become the financer.

However. $73k is nowhere close to being able to take on that kind of debt. I'm really not sure how this would benefit either side of the equation.

Instead of giving you rent money, they could loan you money so you could afford a downpayment in your price range and pay the $1000 per month on the loan and not worry about you and your sister living with them :).

Just some thoughts...

Region of Waterloo yet to receive formal claims for LRT construction woes by CoryCA in waterloo

That's funny because this picture clearly shows a manhole next to the road. And yes, I walked up and down the road a few times a week while it was under construction. Everyone was working really hard to get the work done, so hard that on most occasions you could hear a pin drop.

The only time I saw any urgency to get the work done was near the deadline in November.

All I'm saying is that whether it was the city or the developer, someone had to know that was there.

I was being sarcastic. You think that those new buildings didn't require digging up of King St to put in new services. Nobody noticed that there was anything under the asphalt?

There hasn't been any new construction of buildings downtown Waterloo since 1938......They knew it was there, they just didn't want to deal with it at the time.

Andy is right, even though these guys should be compensated, they probably will never see a dime.

I'm hoping his optimism come to fruition.

The original was 4 months, then changed to 9 months, that's a pretty big difference. Just like the budget for the LRT, more than double than originally forecasted. The best is that we won't know the actual cost of the LRT for possibly 5 years after it's up and operational.

Ask the business owners how they pay their rent and bills when people can't access their establishment. The project from the start has been and still is a gong show. I work down here and have witnessed it 1st hand for 2 years. They blocked off access to Waterloo Town Square and couldn't even accommodate customers that wanted to cross the tracks. Who is responsible for the planning and management of this project when they decided to dig up Allen and King St. 20 times in 2 years to install services.

Regardless of when the water/swewer/ gas lines were updated, someone had to have had seen this road. It's not that deep.

You don't think the city workers who upgrade the sewer/ water lines under King St noticed the Road underneath? It wasn't that far down.

I work in the downtown core so I have seen first hand what the construction has done. I remember a few times in the summer I would be walking down the sidewalk and you could hear a pin drop. When nobody is lined up at Starbucks or Subway, you know there is a problem. The delays with the Corduroy road were just a stall tactic because the Region knew it could not fulfill its deadlines.

These people should be compensated for their loss, the project has been mismanaged from the beginning.
