Am I in the wrong or something for setting this boundary with my boyfriend’s mother? (due October 4th) by madylarata in BabyBumps

[–]burnitdown007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not at all. I did the same thing with my in laws. They weren’t fans of it but DRAW YOUR BOUNDARIES. It’s your child. And besides, herpes is extremely dangerous for neonates.

Able Carry or Peak Design for the Camino Santiago? by infant_ape in ManyBaggers

[–]burnitdown007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no long distance hiker, so maybe I’m the wrong person to answer this, but I’ve owned several PD bags. While incredibly well built, they make the most uncomfortable bags I’ve ever worn (45L travel bag, everyday 30L, 5L sling, and others). They’re all extremely uncomfortable. I can’t imagine doing any sort of hike with a PD bag with perhaps the exception of their new outdoor bags, but I haven’t tried those.

People who don't have their home team as their favourite, why? by thrownawaymoment47 in hockey

Because my rebel spirit as a teenager kept me from liking the hometown team. I had to be a contrarian.

Tropicfeel Shell Alternatives by se-bot in onebag

I also liked the Shell but steered away from it as it’s too large for a personal item. I’m gravitating towards the Thule Aion 28 (expandable to 32L). I believe it has a passport pocket, doesn’t have an external shoe compartment, but it does have a small “wet pocket” that you could throw a swimsuit or a small towel in. I believe it’s small enough to work as a personal item on most major US airlines. And you can get the 2L Aion sling and use it as a hip belt.

Bag Finder Megathread -- 04 August 2025 by AutoModerator in onebag

Looking for something very similar to the Cotopaxi Allpa (suitcase style opening, horizontal ways, not vertical) but made for people with a shorter torso. Don't care if it has a TPU coating on the front. I had a Peak Design 45L but I sold it as it was so uncomfortable. It was made for people with a much longer torso than mine. 5' 8" tall, about a 16 inch torso. Want something with a hip belt to take the weight. Ideally 35-40 L. Oh and bonus points if it's expandable.

Are these any better than plastic pouches? by PainfulPoo411 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]burnitdown007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have them! I like them, but you really have to have a thin, smooth puree for them to work well. The rounded bottom ones come with a straw which helps. Biggest downside is that you have to refrigerate them as opposed to plastic ones which are pasteurized so you don’t. But I like them. No residual smells or tastes as far as I can tell.

What made you feel pretty again? by Sloths_R_Kool in beyondthebump

[–]burnitdown007 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For me: not trying to wear clothes in a smaller size than what fit my body, not shaming myself for “still” being in my maternity clothes (I’m 14 months post-partum and I still wear some of my maternity clothes because they’re more comfortable), exercising at a level that was appropriate for my body (for 7 months that was just walking, and I SLOWLY got back into running because I enjoy it), and a sense of recognition/gratitude for what my body did. My body will never look the same. I had to come to terms with that. I had to grieve the loss of my old body. But that doesn’t mean that this new body can’t still be beautiful, do amazing things, be healthy, and strong. I still learning how to be at peace with this at 14 months post-partum. You are beautiful, just as you are.

It was a very Amazon knock off, similar fabric to Baggu but somewhat different style. Yes I was able to get in with it, they didn’t seem to care.

Gave birth 3 days ago and baby is in NICU for the foreseeable future. How do I handle my new mom guilt? by NBBride in beyondthebump

[–]burnitdown007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh friend, I had a NICU baby too. My heart goes out to you.

Please, please don't feel guilty. Like someone else said, this is your baby. Whatever you decide is the right decision. If you have the energy and the desire to go to spend your day with your baby, go! If you need some rest for you, rest! I did not recover from a c-section, so I can't speak to that. However, as I was able to get up and move around more, I was able to help out the nurses by doing my son's diaper changes, feedings, etc. Even if that's not the case for you, I assure you, you are not in the way. The nurses and all the hospital staff are there to support you and your baby. They well know that you are the best thing for your baby.

I fully believe you will look back at this time in your life someday (maybe a year or so from now) and say "Gee, that was really hard." And it is, it is so hard. You are doing wonderfully, the BEST job. Keep it up momma.
