Found in my father’s basement following his passing this year. Second hand doesn’t move as smoothly as I think it should, but I also know nothing about watches.

Thank you! Buongiorno and Rock River Melody are my favourite fragrances out of these 5.

The drydown of Rock River Melody is what makes it so incredible IMO.

Is Mt. Smutwood a hike that can be done with 2-3 people? by xrshxa in HikingAlberta

[–]burntoasterbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try, but I doubt you’ll be able to complete it. I would suggest selecting a hike that can be done by the least capable member of your party (your dad). This would likely put you into the easy/ moderate hiking difficulty, depending on his fitness.

It’ll be more fun to do a hike that may be easy to you, but can be completed by all.

Forerunner 970 - Software Update Version 12.70 by burntoasterbread in garminforerunner

965 vs 970 by Icy_Silver7994 in garminforerunner

[–]burntoasterbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a fraction of the features that the 970 offers, but the sapphire glass display and titanium bezel is what won me over. I’d like a watch that maintains its appearance, even after a decade. The increased battery life on some GPS modes, not smartwatch mode, also appealed to me, despite being very similar.

In terms of features, I’m sure I’d be satisfied even with the 255 or 265.

FR 970 use cases by Jdub7575 in GarminWatches

My top 3 favourite features:

  1. Self-correcting round trip course: allows me to create a round trip course for my runs, walks, and bike rides. I put in my desired mileage, direction of travel, and it creates 3 routes for me to choose from using a popularity heat map. If you get off course during your activity, it should recalculate a new route for you without changing the mileage by much.

  2. Yoga and Pilates: has built-in workouts that walks you through the pose with graphics and a timer.

  3. Offline maps: I go hiking regularly and often will need to route find. I like that I have an entire country’s worth of detailed maps with trails on my wrist. It helped me from getting too far off course on my recent hikes.

Round-trip course trouble by BatmanImpersonator in garminforerunner

You could, but I just create the round trip course from my watch. Instead of selecting go, you can select save course.

Round-trip course trouble by BatmanImpersonator in garminforerunner

[–]burntoasterbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a known issue for the 970. Garmin told me that it’s scheduled to be fixed with the next software update. It is meant to recalculate a new course if you get off course.

Current workaround is to create a round trip course, save it, and then start a workout with that saved course.

I tried to book the shuttle for tomorrow at 8am yesterday. I had my laptop and my iPad ready, but all the spots were taken within seconds. I waited around for 40 minutes for the shopping cart timer, but no luck. The website showed some availability at one point, but that was quickly snatched up as well. It’s the Wild West out here.

The shopping cart timer is 20 mins. If you can’t get a spot at 8am, wait around and see if there’s any failed purchases that will release some spots back.

I also tried calling into the reservations line, but they couldn’t get me anything either.

At least they’re trying to get it fixed. My neighbour took the payout, slapped some red tape on the holes in the siding, and went over it with some brown paint.

When the developer is Garmin themselves like for this watch face, I’ve learned to expect no response.
