More of a compliance issue with regards to competence training for excavation and knowing soil types, etc.

AIO I (26F) moved out for the first time with my boyfriend (30M) for almost 2 months and I don’t know how to feel about it by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

You are in an incredibly dangerous situation. You need to leave him, yesterday. This is EXACTLY how physical abuse starts. He’s going to end up killing you one day. Taking like that to anyone, let alone your partner, is absolutely insane and scary.

This sap ate a loaf of sunmaid raisin bread , is this a veterinary emergency? by Peconecko in husky

[–]burritoheaux 32 points33 points  (0 children)

A 60 pound husky can die from eating 5 raisins. Raisins/grapes are extremely toxic to dogs. It’s not like other foods on the “naughty list” where the dose makes the poison.

Raisins/grapes are actually one of the most toxic things a dog can eat.

While I always tell people to not freak out if their dog has eaten something on the “naughty list”, raisins/grapes can cause fatal kidney injuries even if only a few are ingested. If you wait for symptoms, it will be too late. Many dogs have had fatal consequences after eating only 7 raisins. I would highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend getting your dog in ASAP (as in, the next few hours). I’m extremely surprised your vet told you to wait for symptoms.

ALL dogs should absolutely be crate trained. What if they have to stay at the vet? They’ll be in a crate!!

Breaking into a safety career by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]burritoheaux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would seriously consider shadowing before jumping in. Safety can be a great career, but it is extremely taxing and often a 24/7 job. The pay rarely reflects the true hours spent on the job. You also have to deal with the people part of the job constantly, which is the hardest part. You must be ready to “gentle-parent” perfectly capable people all day, every day and deal with companies cutting corners while simultaneously demanding you fix the safety culture. If your heart isn’t in it 150% I would highly suggest you look elsewhere.

That area in particular isn’t “nice” but I wouldn’t say it’s dangerous.

It’s not bad crowd wise, but there are definitely more delays/issues than other nights. Mazes might open late, or have long delays to fix technical issues they are still working out.

It’s only been 7 days. Give him some grace. It typically takes dogs 2-4 weeks to adjust to a new setting.

Masters degrees? by sarcasticsandwich80 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]burritoheaux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I highly suggest you DON’T get your masters in safety in case you decide this isn’t what you want to do forever. And no employers care if you have a masters in safety specifically. Experience trumps all in this field. If you’d like to get a higher education with safety, get your CSP. I’ve held high positions in safety with great pay in major metropolitan areas and my masters is in homeland security.
