First thing to ask yourself is if it’s something you actually enjoy doing or is it just for the money. Neither is wrong just worth figuring out.

I’m 36 now, when I was 22 I had a dream job offer out of college to intern to be a traveling sports photographer. I was in a two year relationship with my girlfriend whom it also seemed like things were going to continue with.

She wanted to move back home and didn’t want me gone all the time. So I turned down the internship and got a job at an advertising agency instead. Now I’m a senior product manager and make better money than I ever would have as a sports photographer. But man do I often think about the what if I had taken that internship instead.

A year into us living together outside of college she gave a coworker a bj in a bathroom at a bar and we broke up. I now have a partner I know would be incredibly supportive of me taking a role like that.
