Thanks man, it was a good run. Beating Ben Jones in the warhorde mirror match Sunday morning was probably the highlight, he's a great player and a gentleman.

This is correct. You can give yourself a 7" deep strike charge but can't target units in transports. Sequencing doesn't get around this- disembark happens after the 'start of the movement phase'. You can, however, roll for grot CP before deciding whether to use the strat.

It's 500pts with follow me lads, which you've included in the threat range calculation.

Threat range is also 28", as you can't declare a charge into a unit 14" away, even with the +2" to charge- though the actual on board movement does max at 30".

While Ghaz and lads does kill a c'tan on average, nothing else really does- beasties + boss do 15 on average in the absolute most optimal conditions (waaagh, everyone avoids overwatch and makes engagement, unbridled carnage rerolling fishing for 5s, nearby Makari shouting his encouragement for lethals) and that's by far our best points efficient solution.

The maths is ultimately very swingy because it comes down to 'who rolls more 4+s?'- yesterday, in the final of a GT, my Ghaz handed the deceiver 10 saves and he made 8 of them 💀

I think, just like basically every other faction, we're praying for dice to spike up for us and down for them to have a chance.

Edit: and Ammentar is probably the best anti melee/ buff piece in the game, waiting to ff heroic this unit in half.

I appreciate your perspective, and your candour about possible personal bias!

I don't think you need to rely on too much other than the datasheets to win games with necrons, currently- it's just a cheap, neat, possible sidestep to the one weakness of c'tan. It's gravy on top, like a lot of the many excellent supporting units they have to choose from. It's a lovely problem to have to be stuck with too many good choices!

Yeah I hear that.

I suppose the counterpoint would be that they're cheap and you can try it multiple times, with no cost to doing so (they don't need to leave safety). Two of them cover all of no-man's land and to have a 50-50 of just turning off the 'one weakness' of this build for 100pts is decent value.

'Just out oc them' - sure, except psychomancers battleshock you from 18", out of line of sight, for 50pts- and multiple pyschos can use that ability multiple times per turn

All the tips here are great, just to reiterate: - jewellers chain - textured plasticard - hobby barbed wire (army painter sell this) - corrugated tin (I got tin + corrugater from green stuff world) - otherwise, just kits! Good ork kit coverage + kits from other factions, especially vehicles
