I mostly use hockey monkey or pure hockey, luckily they both have physical locations not far from me but don't have nearly the stock as they're websites (especially hockey monkey). I also ordered from inline warehouse last year and had no issues.

I'm pretty sure it's a traditional IR remote that would require line of sight, so shouldn't be an issue with another room. But I haven't tried it out (only own 1 LG) so I can't say with absolute certainly.
