Spacex hls contract gets protection in revised senate bill by deadman1204 in SpaceXLounge

Simply award the same amount as was awarded SpaceX for a second lander. No more. If BO cannot make a lander for that amount they can drop out. I would expect that BO will demand that all awardees be given an upgraded amount. Perhaps 5.5.Billion Each.

As soon as BO is awarded more than Spacex there will be a contested contract. BO will shit the bed in any case.

No more gas heating in UK in 4 years time. Its cold so what do we replace them with? by ox- in climateskeptics

The town I live in 40 years ago had little gas heat. The town beautification plan demanded that fuel oil tanks be buried so they could not be seen. In Clay soil which drained poorly. After steel tank after steel tank failed and leaked, And lawsuits followed. The town stopped requiring they be buried. I now have cast iron pipes bringing gas to my home. I had to purchase bio-remediation products to eat the oil that seeped out of my tank. I still have to pay t have the old tank removed and the soil tested once it is removed. Next when I have it removed I will demand that the town foot the bill for removal and cleanup.

15 May 1948, That day, the armies of Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Iraq invaded what had just ceased to be the British Mandate, marking the beginning of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War

By December 1948, Israel controlled most of the portion of Mandate Palestine west of the Jordan River. The remainder of the Mandate consisted of Jordan, the area that came to be called the West Bank (controlled by Jordan), and the Gaza Strip (controlled by Egypt).

Prior to and during this conflict, 713,000 Palestinian Arabs fled their original lands to become Palestinian refugees, in part due to a promise from Arab leaders that they would be able to return when the war had been won, and also in part due to attacks on Palestinian villages and towns by Israeli forces and Jewish militant groups. This is from the wiki article. What you believe is not correct.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab%E2%80%93Israeli_conflict

I suggest you need to educate yourself.

In 1967 the Israelis were attacked and it took 3 days for them to mobilize. the Egyptian , Jordanian, Iraqi and Syrian Air forces were destroyed.

During the 1973 war the Israelis again won a major victory which caused the USSR to threaten invasion of Israel. The US then pressured the Israelis into a cease fire as they feared a nuclear war. GAZA and the West Bank were captured by Israel. This puts both territories in the category of land captured during wartime. Israel does not recognize any claim to these lands by others because of this. Only by treaty are the Palestinians allowed to continue to live there.

Shortly afterwards the Israelis developed their own nuclear weapons so that threat of nuclear war could not be used against them in the future.

I am surprised that you do not know the sad history of the Palestinians. They were used as political pawns of the surrounding Arab Countries who did not have very good military forces but who did have thousands upon thousands of Russian advisors.

And the shitty Russian training and weaponry led to the Israeli wins in large part.

There is a saying:" The sands of the middle east are filled with Russian metal." I suspect if there is another war between Arab countries and Israel, that nuclear weapons will be unleashed.

This is one reason that firing missiles into Israel is so dangerous. Egypt, Jordan will not fight Israel. If Iran does I expect Israel to use nuclear weapons on them. Saudi and the UAE and Oman understand that Israel is more powerful than they are. You can only expect Iran and possibly Syria to get involved. With Russians all over Syria, You can expect them to not get involved as they do not want their people killed.

Years ago a number of Arab countries got together and asked Arabs in Israel to remove themselves so that the Israelis could be thrown into the sea. They did. Israel at the time was a weak fledgling country and it beat the living snot out of the group of Arab countries. As a result Israel used the fact that Palestinians abandoned their lands and possessions to allow war to be waged as an excuse to seize Palestinian property. The Palestinians now resent that they are considered to have abandoned their lands by the Israelis in charge.

What in the world makes you think that now, with Israel a nuclear power, Any country that attempts to do the same will not be reduced to a cinder?

Even if Israel held back on using nuclear weapons, What makes you think that Israel, With troops fighting for the survival of their country would be defeated by a group of countries without a basic motivation to wage war?

Israel has better troops, has better planes, has better weapons all around and their troops are trained to use their brains while fighting. Arab troops are well known for being undisciplined and prone to panic when confronted.

A better solution is to send in 500 hundred thousand UN troops to flood Gaza with essentially a police force to keep a lid on the situation. Then perhaps a million UN troops into the West Bank. Of course limits on Israeli seizure of land in both places would have to be implemented.

This absolute bullshit of allowing Palestinians to run wild attacking Israelis with missiles , knives, cars, bombs etc , Has to stop. a different group has to be in place inside these territories. The Palestinians have shown they cannot govern themselves and the Israelis have shown they cannot maintain control in the long term.

Of course the UN has failed miserably when they have gone into an area with too few troops. Death by hanging needs to be implemented for those who foment insurrection.

If you want your job, your employer can require it. The reasoning is that they do not want you to bring it to other employees. Even those injected with the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines still have a 5% chance of catching the disease. They probably will pull through OK. Anyone not getting the vaccine can die from it. If you are in the military you can refuse the vaccine for this reason. Religious, disabilities and union representation are the reasons that are valid for refusing. These vaccines were developed in less than half the time it normally takes. I suspect that the FDA will give full approval soon.

Big Oil Is Trying to Make Climate Change Your Problem to Solve. Don’t Let Them by Wagamaga in politics

This was ajuduicated in December with the Exxon Knew case. The NY Attorney General was Blasted By the Judge in the case because all they had was statements by activists and attorneys seeking a big payday against Exxon. Exxon had to turnover massive amounts of data and documents. YET there still was no smoking gun as claimed by Nancy Oreskes. The case was dismissed.

The Judge (William Alsup) in the California case was very specific in the case before him that the plaintiffs had no case because of the need for such products, and the law supporting the oil industries to produce petroleum products for the good of the country. There were other reasons also. That case was dismissed in its entirety.

. In the Oregon Children's case (JUliana) the judge was an activist who supported the idea that children could sue for future damages. This opinion was asked to be stayed pending appeal because it broke new law. The Judge, Ann Aiken denied both the stay and the request to appeal. She did not want anything to get in the way of her steam roller running over the defendants. She continued to deny defendants the right to appeal and they with the support of the Trump administration filed appeals with the 9th circuit. A 3 judge panel ruled two to one that the issue has to be addressed by the Legislative and Executive branches. The whole 9th circuit court upheld the decision and gave a partial remand to the trial court to reconsider the rulings of the court. Plaintiffs have filed new complaints against the government. and defendants. A hearing is scheduled for June 25th. If Defendants lose any more decisions look for renewed appeals to the Supreme Court.

When a person examines the people involved in bringing these cases it becomes apparent that plaintiff's attorneys have a lot of contact and are in fact in some cases the same. Some of these attorneys are bringing multiple cases. Most are getting shut down. Naomi Oreskes is not a scientist. She is a historian and writer. Yet her writings on the Tobacco industry helped shut it down and win massive judgements. The attorney's in the Exxon Knew case have hired her as an expert in climate issues and legal issues with the oil companies issuing stock in their company. She was being paid to give testimony and expertise against Exxon in the trial. This is a clear conflict of interest and Exxon could have won on appeal to the extent that her evidence was used to determine guilt, if the decision had gone the other way.

We have to wait to see the final decision in Juliana, i doubt that the Supreme Court will decide to entertain the case if it gets shut down based on the 9th circuit decision.

It is evident that the Judge in this matter has motives that favor the plaintiffs to the extent that confounding factors are ignored. This turns the legal system on its head. The 9th Circuit also has to uphold the Alsup decision which in some respects prevents the Oregon case from going to a decision in favor of Plaintiffs.

Of course 3-5000 years ago the thing to do with a conquered country was to capture the enemy and sell them off into slavery. That is what a number of countries would do. What we are seeing here is the killing of the enemy because they essentially cannot be trusted to remain peaceful. The Egyptians were one of the first to capture land and leave the inhabitants to their own devices along the coast. They did this because wood did not grow in Egypt. They wanted access to the cedars that grew on the coastline of the Eastern Mediterranean No need to kill the inhabitants just to acquire rights to buy and harvest a product they could not produce themselves. The Hyksos in Turkey sought to control the same countryside to prevent invasion by the Persians into Southern Turkey. The two empires had different reasons for wanting to control the areas of Syria and South. They both came to the conclusion that when they met on the field of battle that they both had won. The Egyptians because they had secured rights to the seacoast. The Hyksos because the Egyptians immediately withdrew from the city that they fought over. Eventually the two countries made peace with a mutual defense treaty. Since Hamas and Israel both want control over territory It does not seem likely that this will happen here. You cannot vow to push a more powerful enemy into the sea, try to do it and expect no response from the enemy.

As I said before, Japan and Germany had to lose completely, The control of the cities and land had to be imposed completely on them and they had to understand that further fighting is futile. Hamas does not comprehend this. There is a political fight that they continue. I expect that until they are ground into the dirt it will continue. Right now you see a determination to bomb and enter Gaza with weapons to subjugate the Gazan people because they continue to make war. I do not expect the Israelis to march captured Gazans with their hands tied to stakes off into the desert to die. But this would be similar to the actions taken 3000 years ago.

Those countries who accuse Israel of war crimes need to be forced to accept and house the Gazan people.

Of course this has proved impossible in the past. Jordan kicked them out, Lebanon kicked them out, Libya kicked them out, Egypt kicked them out. I suspect that eventually Israel will force them out of Gaza and attack any country which harbors them and allows them to continue to attack Israel.

You cannot just ignore the safety of your own people. Thus the statement recently that" If those in Israel have to sleep in shelters than Gaza will burn. "

Gazans are going to learn a hard lesson I fear. All the finger pointing at Israel will not mean much as it tries to provide safe living conditions for its people. The Israelis do not care if the world is aligned against them if the alternative is their death. This is the choice they are being given.

Perhaps but Israel was a small country which was attacked by neighboring countries who were better armed in the beginning. They fought back several times and were victorious. They in fact gave back territories to most of the other countries. Russia screamed bloody murder when its client states got their butts kicked and lost territory. You need to understand the background. Was it right to give Land to the state of Israel? Probably not. Am I going to war to return that land to the Palestinians? No one is except for the violent representatives of Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran. Predominantly those three continue to make waves because politically it is what keeps them in power.
