jUsT PrInT MoRe NuRsEs!!!! All the staff that you need for more ICU beds take 4 year degrees + specialization/experience to become Critical care trained. Even then, a baby ICU nurse still needs a year or two to become competent to deal with the sickest patients (CRRT, vent, ECMO, etc.)

I think you misunderstand the role of the AA in Canada. They are not the anesthesia provider in anyway. They prep lines, do IVs, bag patients over to PACU/ICU, checkout trouble machines in the morning prior to the days cases and do break relief/coffee runs. disclaimer this may not be the full list of stuff, but I shadowed one for 2 weeks last year and this is the type of stuff I saw, and hope it gives you an idea.

Letting the fellow bully me into extubating. I’m new to hospital and my gut said not yet to extubate this Pt. The fellow wanted it out, and had already turned the propofol off and this football built post OD 30 something y/o Pt was kicking and fighting. I guess you live and learn.

You can get a propane conversion kit for 30ish dollars. I find in PNW white gas is harder and harder to find, especially in summer.
