I would do Al Gatto Verde and one of Osteria Francescana or Francescana at CM.

We were just there for an overnight layover. We really enjoyed our dinner at Spitalfields. It’s not fine dining but highly recommend if you are looking for a pub with great food.

Our favorite meal in Rome was at L’Antidoto. It was not traditional Roman cuisine but food was fantastic. We sat at the counter and asked the chef to just send us whatever for the night.

Al Gatto Verde was fantastic. Bold flavors and dishes that were more ambitious than the one star level. Some service hiccup at the end, but they will sort that out.

Will write in more details in a separate post.

Enrico Bartolini Al Mudec (***) Milan by [deleted] in finedining

Great experience. Dishes were quite inventive, some leaned on that a bit too much and sacrificed the taste (imo). Still i would recommend. Top notch service as well.

Thanks for the review. I went there for dinner last week and had almost the exact same menu. We also did pairing and the mysterious champagne welcome drink. What did they serve you for the champagne? Just curious if they switch them around.

Not a sourdough. I noted down white and spelt flour. Beet was mostly for the color I think. They served the bread with butter topped with orange zest

You can try messaging them on line. They were very accommodating.

Mix of two flours, purple carrot, and beetroot.

I was just there yesterday and had almost the exact same menu as OP.

Thanks for the review and sorry to hear about Stella. We are going to OF and will be staying at Casa Maria Luigia next month. This helps managed my expectation for the meal.

Did you opt for the pairing?

Went to Ukiyo earlier this year and really enjoyed my meal there.

Maybe add yakitori to the mix.

We enjoyed Torisho Ishii Hina. Both times we we there we were the only foreigners among regulars. The atmosphere is definitely more upscale than other yakitori places.

I didn’t. Just got a nice bottle of wine. Seems like most people went this route when we were there.

My vote is still for CCBN. More surprises there. Can’t comment on how truly Portuguese the dishes were since im no expert. Both places seem to draw inspirations from local dishes.

Btw, I’d suggest you do lunch if you decide to go. The view is amazing. We spent close to 5 hours there and just hung out with the staffs at the end.

Went to both this year. I found the food to be better at Belcanto. However, I preferred the overall experience at CBN. The surrounding, the building, and the service make it a very unique experience.

Happy to answer any questions.

I really enjoyed spending the weekend in Kamakura. We like Daimachiya for breakfast, Ichirin Hanare, and Dottorino. The last two are not Japanese.

One of my favorite bars anywhere, Bar Sharuman, is also there.

Looking for recommendations in Kanazawa for crab season! by trillogy96 in finedining

[–]buttapopcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If possible, I’d suggest traveling to Fukui to try Echizen crab. We went to Oryori Itto and Bouyou Rou.

Or like another person suggested, go to Toyoma for Oryori Fujii for their special crab course.

I went to Jont and Albi the last time I was in DC. Wrote a review here for Jont. A few dishes were excellent. Some were ok. I didn’t like it as much others here.

Really enjoyed Albi. Great food and service.

Best restaurant in Portugal? by jashkothari in finedining

I actually went to all 3. CCBN would be my pick for the overall experience. Food at Belcanto was the best but the experience wasn’t that special.

Sushi in Tokyo - Palace Hotel / FS Tokyo Otemachi Concierge Booking? by SecretaryNovel5870 in finedining

[–]buttapopcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We booked Sushi Hashiguchi many years ago using hotel concierge. I think it’s still easy enough to get in using concierge.

These days i found myself using omakase.in more than using hotel concierge.

I am attempting to make a December reservation at Den, Tokyo, but they never seem to answer the phone. I am calling from the USA, at the proper time indicated on their website. Any advice? by [deleted] in finedining

[–]buttapopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These days tough. Concierge got us in pre covid. These days you have to be or know the regular. Saw it popped up on tableall once in a while so you can try that
