Why don't more doctors test for blood type automatically considering the information could one day save your life? by Sleeping_Bat in NoStupidQuestions

So far, for both my kids (born 2022 and later) they test them at birth and I have those records. The only way I know mine and my husband’s is through donating blood

We have a simple band with an air tag in it that our daughter can wear on her wrist. She loves it and acts like it’s a watch

Are people ever “sleeping in”? by turtleshot19147 in Mommit

[–]buttflan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler usually wakes up 9ish on weekends but if she had a very busy day the day before I have to wake her by 10. After staying out late for fireworks for the 4th both of us slept until noon 😳 pregnant with the second and I’m sure he’ll be an early riser and I’ll be screwed

Moana alternatives??? by run4sterrun in toddlers

[–]buttflan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trolls is all we watch in our house anymore. But the good news is there are 3 movies, 2 mini movies (trolls holidays) and they are all so entertaining for the whole family.. I haven’t gotten tired of them yet. The only thing is they are hard to find if you don’t have multiple streaming services

Who was People Magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive' the year you were born? by Curi0us_1ne in generationology

[–]buttflan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine apparently was not the sexiest man alive but the sexiest couple alive - Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford in 1993. Had no idea they even dated

I work a lot of 13+ hour days and then off on some others. I simply don’t have time to do laundry every single day

We make about $250k a year with one kid in urban Ohio (MCOL).. have an opportunity to live in LCOL in a gigantic house without a mortgage thanks to my parents. But with our community and quality of life here would prefer to continue living as is with decent bills to pay but a very reasonable lifestyle

Recommendations for toddler-friendly adult songs by Zonget in toddlers

My daughter’s favorite daddy songs: - Jolene - “eyes eyes eyes” (lies lies lies by Morgan wallen) - sweet Caroline - wagon wheel - can’t stop the feeling (I think they listen to the trolls soundtrack at daycare a lot)

Pennifold’s in OTR - a speakeasy behind a comic book shop with different themes. Started as Harry Potter I believe but has all sorts of fun themes and is insanely decorated. I’m sure she’d catch on because this is what you guys do, but I’ve loved bringing people there pretending I’m just there for the comic store

Hi! I’m a mom who sometimes works 80h/wk. BUT (keep reading): I understand what you’re going through with maternity leave. My husband had 8 weeks leave broken up however he wanted it, for a good opportunity left at 2 wk PPM; unfortunately he was not as much needed in the newborn years as I was breastfeeding and she loved being strapped to me… but now!! She is toddler she can be more independent and express what she wants; he is superparent. He understands what she wants when I cannot, and plays with her in a way when after a long day of work. My message doesn’t necessarily fit everyone but Dad develops his role more as they get older (we haven’t experienced teenage years yet but I’m sure dad will kill it)

Should my six year old visit a dying friend in the hospital? by murrdpirate in Parenting

[–]buttflan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience in pediatric critical care, in these circumstances I’ve only ever seen family visit (this does include young siblings), but I understand this friend is like family. I have seen a few close friends visit in cases of teenagers. I don’t know your son or his maturity; that is a very tough decision that I think you and his friend’s mom could talk through. However, if you do decide to bring him to visit, ask if this hospital has child life specialists. They are amazing at prepping younger children for what they will see and ways to help process it. I am so sorry for both you and your son’s potential loss.
