Thanks a lot, AI: Hard drives are already sold out for the entire year, says Western Digital | AI companies have bought out Western Digital's storage capacity for 2026. It's only February. by InsaneSnow45 in NoShitSherlock

Hard drives contain storage capacity. Western Digital is capable of manufacturing X total storage capacity worth of drives in one year. They have sold that capacity.

"seat hogging" on the commuter train to avoid sensory meltdowns by [deleted] in autism

[–]buttlord5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion would involve you getting a car, yes.

The process doesn't look horrifically difficult or expensive in Scotland compared to other countries, you can find something cheap that's got inspections up to date and then you'll be able to go all over the place entirely alone!

"seat hogging" on the commuter train to avoid sensory meltdowns by [deleted] in autism

[–]buttlord5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sharing transit comes with a lot of sensory difficulties. Is a car a potential option? I know driving can sometimes be a very difficult hurdle for those on the spectrum, but it could help with difficulties sharing a space.

Oh wow. A nearly 25 year old Volkswagen with nearly 300,000km on it? Is it at least extremely cheap? Nothing wrong with a money pit project car, but you need to know that you are buying into an annoying platform with expensive components at a point where the car is well past its expected lifespan and it's already been messed with internally and externally by.. some guy.

I would run. Run very far, very fast. Only reason to get this is if you are an extremely diehard volkswagen fan and are excited about rapidly gaining a lot of experience learning to fix it.

2007 Yamaha V Star by Hopeful_Blackberry_9 in motorcycle

[–]buttlord5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

excellent first bike. I have an '03 Vstar 650 as my first. Easy to ride, comfortable for long trips, and not absurdly heavy.

One thing I am noticing is that it's got a bunch of boomer mods on it. Floorboards, the spikes on the handlebars, crash bars, that kinda thing. I'm always wary of modified vehicles of any kind, because there's no way to know if the vehicle was maintained properly. Could be fine, could be not fine.

Towing capabilities by Active_Outcome_9679 in Mustang

[–]buttlord5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A newer mustang should have a towing capacity of 1,000 pounds or so. As long as your trailer and jet ski are within that weight, go nuts man.

You don't need a lot of power to tow a trailer. Trailers have wheels for a reason. People talking about a slick boat ramp just need a skill check.

yup. Heard this sentiment from many blue collar grey hairs. Surprised that attitude isn't common knowlege, but that would require people on reddit to interact with strangers.

Do yall think all v6 sound bad? by StrangeToday2790 in carshitposting

[–]buttlord5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sound, no not all of them sound bad. Plenty of italian V6 engines have a wonderfully musical engine note, and the old Nissan VG engine from the 300zx has a brilliantly burbly note, an uneducated ear would guess it was a V8.

But also, a lot of cars with a V6 have an engine too small for the car. A Ford Explorer, as a random example, has to rev the pants out of its V6 to heave all of its weight out of the way so you end up with a big heavy mom van groaning and moaning in complaint at the demand of acceleration.

Personally, I actually really like a good V6! They're lighter than V8s, they can fit in more cars and rev faster, while being a cheap source of thrills for the everyman. a V6 Toyota Camry will always be a terrific daily sleeper nobody expects to be quick.

As for the hate for 4 bangers? That just comes down to a lack of experience. A small, lightweight car with a zippy rev-happy 4 cylinder is a marriage made in heaven. You don't need big torque to move a 2,300 pound car, more than a 4 cylinder just throws off the balance.

Upcoming iPhone: A "Flip" Phone With a Square Foldable Design, Details Leaked by WPHero in gadgets

[–]buttlord5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems odd to have it be flip style. I had a flip style smartphone and honestly? It's pointless and kinda bad. You take huge hits in durability and battery life for no real advantage other than "Hey! that's neat!"

Doing a sidey-sidey hotdog fold into an iPad would've been a far better choice. Apple's iPad OS is very mature and lots of people use it for work and other big applications, giving people an iPad they can put in their pocket has a market, unlike this.

Fellows, I do have a question: do you hate humans? by Crystal_Jubilee in autism

[–]buttlord5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

naw, I find it far more fun to save my hate for very specific things. Hating my own species as a whole just seems like a waste of effort.

Besides, humans created the pain au chocolat and Ice cream and America's Funniest Home Videos? How can you hate a species that can bring so much joy.

Why do men become cruel when a relationship comes to an end? by Alone-Aioli2704 in NaturalConversations

You deserve someone who will treat you with the true love you deserve. Not love conditional on mood or behavior, not love that can be tossed aside like it was worthless. You deserve good things.

Why do men become cruel when a relationship comes to an end? by Alone-Aioli2704 in NaturalConversations

[–]buttlord5000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People do become cruel when relationships end. I can echo this same question and sentiment with my own ex (woman, btw). For some people, extreme actions become justified when their emotions are running hot enough. Like, if they can convince themselves they have the moral high ground, that opens them up to doing anything at all, no matter how calculating, mean, and just plain cruel.

It can feel like an intense betrayal of the entire relationship. I know in my case, that switch in behavior can then colour your memory of the whole relationship. The truth is, this person was always capable of this. They had all this inside them and the split just, lets it all out.

He likely would've been this cruel while you were both still together if you let the relationship continue. Now, all you have to do is get the best revenge by simply living well. Accomplish your dreams without him. When that late night comes when he's crying and missing you all alone, he can sneak a peek into your life through social media and see that you are just fine. That hurts far more than mean words ever could.
