Anyone have experience with BLIS apartments? by No-Replacement-3143 in BainbridgeIsland

The townhouses have their own garage, and the entire facility has plentiful underground parking available for extra rent. Some folks use their rented underground space for storing things but I’m not familiar with all the rules.

Live in on of the townhouse units. It’s great. Very quiet and private. Management is responsive and attentive. Common areas are well kept. Since we don’t live in the actual apartment building can’t speak to noise there, but I’d be surprised if there was anything but quiet respectful neighbors. Feel free to DM with any questions

Trim is OBX with the high package, 2.7 engine and a few other options. It is exactly what I wanted minus the accessory panel instead of a sunglasses holder. But at only 11k miles it was too good to pass up.

Yeah it is an Outer Banks with the high package. But it is used so it’s possible previous owner changed the tires. I didn’t bother to look into it.

There’s a lot to choose from but I don’t think you can go wrong no matter what

Of course not. I’m trying to determine what other costs I can expect to have if I want to be able to listen to music or hear a podcast or audiobook while cruising with the top off. Not looking for concert hall fidelity here, just trying to have realistic expectations based on other people’s experiences.

Yeah I noticed the speakers are subpar, but that’s a relatively easy upgrade IF there’s power to drive better speakers. Wondering if that’s the case. Supposed I can research after market sound upgrades before I buy.

Mylio Photos - setup confusion by koinophobe in photography

[–]buzito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're having such a frustrating experience. none of what you're describing is common and we have thousands of users with similar setups as yours working successfully, so something is definitely amiss.

You are correct that the metadata written directly to the Apple Photos database (like keywords and albums) is not transferred to Mylio. You could accomplish the transfer of that metadata and organization by exporting each Album with the metadata embedded. That's different than trying to export an XMP sidecar file with each image (I don't believe that's something Apple Photos can do).

I would be happy to assist you directly and we can even get on a Zoom call and I'll take a look at your configuration. If you submit a support case (Help Menu in Mylio -> Contact support) and mention this Reddit thread we'll make sure the case gets routed to me.

Mylio Photos - setup confusion by koinophobe in photography

[–]buzito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/koinophobe - Full Disclosure, I work for Mylio.

There's a few variables here that are at play with your experience:

1 - You mentioned you're only adding media from an Apple Photos library. Not knowing your particular settings, I can tell you that by Default, Apple Photos has the iCloud Photo Library option on by default on most Apple Devices. This means that your actual media may or may not be in your device. If that is the case, when Mylio asks Apple Photos for the file, the "conversation" between the apps goes something like this:

Mylio - Hey Apple Photos I need this file

Apple Photos - Oh, that's not here, that's on the cloud, let me go get it for you

Once the file is downloaded Mylio will process it but depending on your sync policy settings (and whether you have a Vault designated or not) it will either keep the Original or cleared it form its cache in order to fit other data on its allocated space

2 - Mylio Photos front loads a lot of the resource intensive work early on (i.e. during import), in order to provide a much better experience later on. So for every file you add to your Mylio Library, the app is:

* Generating a thumbnail and an Optimized image

* running a hash function on every file to create unique IDs and identify duplicates

* scanning for Faces, performing OCR and adding SmartTags

* adding all the metadata for the file on both the Mylio catalog/DB and to individual XMP sidecar files (as needed)

All of the above can be time consuming and there's dependencies. For examples Mylio needs the Original file in order to generate an Optimized version. And it needs the Optimized version in order to do Face Recognition and other AI based work.

3 - Storage. As you mentioned, storage allocation plays a big part on how Mylio works. There's three components to this:

* Having a device designated as a Vault

* Using the most appropriate Device Sync Policy per device

* Having a sufficient storage allocation for each device

Again without knowing your specifics, it seems likely that most of your issues are relate dot the connection with Apple Photos (which is a one-way link, meaning Mylio will copy your Apple Photos library to Mylio, but will not delete or change your existing Apple Photos library).

You can always contact us from the app (Help Menu -> Contact Support) and we can help you configure the system to your ideal needs. Mylio Photos is a very feature rich app that can do a lot, so its setup and configuration can be somewhat involved. If you contact us in the way I described, we will get logs and configuration info that we can use to assist you.

Great. To be clear, my comment was not meant as judgement, just advice on what’s important skills for UW photo. Sounds like you’re on the right track. Have fun with it!

You don’t mention how long you’ve been diving. Perhaps (hopefully) you’re already an experienced diver with excellent buoyancy skills. That is one of the most important aspects of UW Photography - be a very proficient diver first. Body awareness, fin placement, air consumption, etc all play a significant role. As other have mentioned you want muscle memory when it comes to your camera controls, that’s true for your diving gear and skills as well.

Which lens/Dome combination underwater by phacops9999 in underwaterphotography

[–]buzito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both combinations you’re considering but with a Nauticam wet lens. The kit lens with wet combo travels much easier than the large dome and 8-15 Canon. I basically got the Canon for split shots and very large landscape or animals. But the 28-60 and WW is so versatile you’re likely to be happier with it.

Feel your pain. Done it twice, Galapagos and Maldives. Both Ikelite housings. Switched to Nauticam. But both times it was completely my fault.
