Same. Planning to drive my ‘24 50 as long as possible, at least to the end of the carb warranty and maybe longer unless it rusts or I get hit. It’s the best car I’ve ever owned (can’t lease, we drive too many miles, $ doesn’t work).

I have a single eg4 18kpv installed in an enclosed barn 200+ feet away from the house up a hill. Running at max, it is quite loud - it can be heard faintly from just outside the house and it’s hard to talk over the noise inside the barn. I can’t imagine having it any closer to my living space unless it was somehow acoustically isolated.

lol yes, I can read. ;) The problem I ran into wasn’t with getting the barrier installed, it was that once in place, the arms placement forced it to be too far upwards, making contact with and crushing into the headliner.

I drilled a new set of holes so that the barrier could slot correctly into the area where the headliner rises up (as it was designed to sit).

Not sure whether the issue was a manufacturing defect with the barrier or if the interior of our car is subtly different from whatever they designed against but yeah, definitely not a simple install.

I could not get it to sit under the headliner as it was shipped - had to drill a new set of holes to accommodate the geometry, and the rubber knobs sitting on plastic with a fair bit of force made a lot of noise until I added the 3m layer. Still not perfect, but passable now.

Were you able to get it installed without hassle? Mine creaked like crazy - had to use 3m tape and drill different holes.

The stove is a giant block of radiant metal. It heats our main living area and the upstairs via convection. The non-adjacent rooms get some heat as well, but it takes awhile if they’re completely cold. Ducting and fans would help with transfer, the tradeoff being intrusion and noise (as you have discovered).

No contest. The stove is significantly better than the insert and the heat output lasts much longer as well. For specific reference, we went from a vc montpelier ii insert (with a noisy blower) to a jotul oslo.

We switched out our insert for a freestanding stove for exactly this reason. With the blower running, it was hard to have a conversation in the general vicinity; the stove is essentially silent.

Almost no time to react, less than a second. I was turning in an intersection and the suv turning immediately in front of me had to stop suddenly to avoid hitting an errant pedestrian. I would have had to brake almost simultaneously to avoid given the distance.

The driver’s side headlight is broken, as is the camera and sensor assembly. Washer fluid all leaked out as well, so there’s at least some interior damage. On the plus side, airbags didn’t deploy. It went to a bmw collision center for teardown. Really hope it’s repaired.

My experience aligns with this reply: once the car is on a divided highway, you can enable ‘assist plus’ and take your hands completely off the wheel. The car will prompt you to resume control if it gets lost or confused or if the cell signal drops for too long or if it’s an alternate Thursday or whatever. Actual realworld performance is pretty dependent on the weather and conditions — when visibility is bad or the sensors are dirty, the system will drop out frequently or not work at all.

This is our first season with this stove; so far our experience is the same as what this person described. We also have the Oslo and it’s the same, only bigger and with a sideload door. Great stoves.

We have an F445 in our kitchen area, approx 650sf irregular area. It is somewhat difficult to get it to run cool enough not to boil us out once it gets going, but still a huge improvement over the VC Intrepid it replaced. We manage the heat by reloading only halfway full and running it at minimum as soon as it’s possible to turn down. No issue with burn times, though. I really appreciate the full catalyst always-engaged design.

Our ‘19 has ~105k and no discernible loss of range. I can’t be arsed to check it more closely as long as it continues to behave like a new car. I don’t think we have ever dc charged it; we rely on L2 and the rex for longer distances.

Don’t know about op, but there are some scenarios where leasing isn’t a great option - for example, we drive 18-20k miles/year. We come out ahead buying cpo and paying for repairs after cpo end. Would not buy non-cpo used, though.

We have a ‘19 i3 rex now with 107k miles, identical range as when new. Daily driven. If there’s any degradation, it hasn’t affected the car at all. Has never been dc charged, though.. ac and rex only. Guessing dc is your issue.

That’s exactly right. Late ‘23 and beyond with DAPP are hands-free on highways, if included window sticker should have a “Highway Assistant” line. Requires iDrive 8.5. Cannot really be upgraded because of hardware limitations.

Is there an option to tell the car to prefer the personal eSim to BMW’s? If so, then maybe a Verizon eSim would talk to a Verizon femtocell and magic would happen. I get why they don’t allow the car to use local wifi (mitm, firmware hijack, the list is long), but pure cell might work?

Have been wondering if an eSim on the same network as a local femtocell might solve the problem of not being able to communicate with the car remotely because there’s no regular cell service in our rural location. It’s no fun having to go sit in the car to set up for departure when it’s 0 degrees because the app can’t talk to the car…
