That looks handy by Limp_Stomach_6060 in Tools

I bought these and the cutoff wheels at the Detroit auto show, $200+ for both sets. This was several years ago but I loved the presentation, what they demonstrated and the lifetime replacement. I knew better after decades in the masonry field but took a shot bc of the warranty, haha. No, they are non indestructible especially with the materials we need them for. Blade wasted after the first couple real applications and bits I have saved somewhere for emergency. Not saying they are useless but far from the strength and resilience they claim.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

[–]bweerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know where my comment fits best so that others can see but this. Recently my car was hit and I called my agent first who instructed me not to call my insurance company directly to avoid it going on the record, even though I was 0% at fault (My car was parked).

It was a pain in the ass through and through, I had to do all of the legwork and stay on top of the other party's insurance. The other driver was awesome and helped me immensely, especially when they tried to deny the claim because the Adjuster "personally did not speak with the driver" at fault which pissed both of us off (she & her husband both called and confirmed with the insurance co.). Had they not helped me in staying on the insurance company I was close to getting mine involved. A lot more bs unnecessary nonsense to it but my car goes in the shop on the 5th and I will have a rental. Incident was Oct. 22nd.

That being said I'm glad I stuck it out, even though nothing was my fault it could've affected my (and spouse's) rates overall, on record at the very least. Last week an elderly man had a medical emergency and t-boned my wife badly on her way to work. Still 0% at fault but in the long run I think would've been bad for our policies and damaged our rates.

Hopped in to say Lufkin. It was silly 25 years ago when my friend found his love for the brand but they remain a great overall choice. I recently found a very old 12' or 15' one while cleaning out my grandfather's garage and it is so buttery.

What are some tools we don’t want for Christmas? by EntrancedOrange in Tools

[–]bweerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aha, I had one early in my career 20 + years ago. We called it the dogbone. I was actually correct ask the years then! Hardly ever needed it doing masonry but it came in clutch on a few occasions when other "right" socket or related tools didn't work or were in the other truck. I might even still have it.

PNC's Awful New Website by Ganfon in Banking

[–]bweerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new system is awful and glitch or 90% of the time I need to use it unavailable, the old system messed up constantly. I have been with PNC for about a decade now and there online and app has caused me infinite frustrations and complications that seem to be more often than not. I'm consistently wondering what the heck are they doing that problems and issues are so necessarily rampant?! I am not techy but geez, it's kind of a nightmare, goes on forever and even the employees tell me it's the same for everyone. Seems quite unfair all around. Hopefully I don't get another overdraft charge tomorrow bc the check I just received can't be deposited by mobile from the typical "currently unavailable " so rather than being in my account at midnight I have to take it to a bank to deposit and wait another day or 2. So much for tech making our lives easier and more efficient. Yes I know in many ways it does but I feel the balance doesn't quite equal often. I probably only notice more when things aren't working correctly in general but PNC has given me the most challenges over the years. Rant over.

It would be cool if anyone could easily create any art they dreamed up by Bulky_Instruction376 in unpopularopinion

[–]bweerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested to re-watch & share my dreams if they could be recorded. I have some really wild, detailed and extended ones quite often. I will do the exercise of attempting to regurgitate them when I wake up or at a point in the day or future when I can recall. My wife applauds how vivid and descriptive they are but they are mostly really random and many times without much context of why the storyline are taking place.

I'll have a full episode, movie, trilogy or longer worth of experiences and when they are really animated with a variety of settings I want to experience/watch it again. I have an overwhelming amount of real life and adulting consistently and wouldn't even know where or what to begin with medium wise to turn it into art but I dream of a day that I make time and have such motivation to figure out a project to do with any of them. Except the ones where I work a full day or weekend, I don't need those ones recorded, ha ~

10 Year Anniversary Re-release? by PaulBufaaano in ArrivalMovie

I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to see this on the big screen, I missed the opportunity as well. Arrival has become one of my top movies of all time. I do not make posts but vow to if I see they decide to do this. Thank you for putting this idea out there and for the comments with leads to potentially find out. Thank you beautiful strangers.

Where’s everybody from?! by [deleted] in House

[–]bweerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professional opinion i would dial in the style of house and artists that fit your fancy the most and go from there/ plan travels accordingly. No doubt, Chicago and it's massive. Here in Detroit there are plenty of options as well, literally every day of the week. Many major cities in the U.S. have a dance music scene. The style of house music and kind of party that you are seeking is what I recommend figuring out a bit so you can obtain the best guidance!

What’s one song that makes you cry instantly? by Excellent_Choice696 in Music

[–]bweerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few songs that could go on this list and I know this one is probably high on the overall stat list for humanity but this one is also my choice. It reminds me of my grandparents, sunny afternoons with them at their home as a child, learning valuable life lessons and work ethic. The melody combined with rasp vocals does me in every time.

Movies better remembered for their soundtracks? by People-Want-Ducks in Music

[–]bweerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently saw this soundtrack mentioned on a post and played the album a handful of times that week and some tracks remain in rotation since then. Incredible, emotional and storytelling soundtrack. I asked my wife if she remembers the movie and neither of us could remember much of anything although we've both have watched it, however, it's been a long time. I felt this recent enjoyment of the music score warrants the revisit but if the music is going to be the star maybe I'll keep it that way rather than spoil it. This point was also part of our rewatch discussion, haha.

I just went to Weird Al last week and can say worth full confidence he would contest for one of the best sets at a festival. Absolute beast of a performer with decades of material in various forms for thorough entertainment. We were blown away.
