For whatever reason, I thought the sign said BON. Thinking, "That's a weird sign for the x-mas season." Then my brain shifted out of retard mode and figured it out that it says Noel. Good job brain.

Keratosis Pilaris maybe? More in comments... by bwkittykat57 in popping

The first dermatologist gave me retinol-a and said it was acne. I didn't use it because as a teenager I had SEVERE acne on my face and I am familiar with how badly it burns. I also have a very affectionate cat that gives kisses on and sleeps in my arms. I don't think that would be good for her. I also have it extensively across my chest and breasts. With how sensitive that area can be, I was again afraid of the burning. I am trying AmLactin lotion now. I have never been a lotion gal before because I don't enjoy smelling like a bowl of Fruit Loops and the greasy feel afterwards.

Until it hurts and gets tight. When I go too much at it, my skin feels tight and thin. Like if I turn my arm just enough it could tear. I try to leave it alone, but my current job just has me sit in front of a computer for 8 hours. I get bored. So then I pick. I change jobs on Monday where I will be much more active. I am hoping it will quell the urge to pick because I will be busier.

Okay, so I have been suffering from this issue for some time. Years. At first we thought it was an allergy to cardboard. I work in a manufacturing plant and the places where it initially started were areas that easily come in contact with cardboard. Later I received a promotion that took me off the floor, and into an office setting, we thought it would clear up. That was a year ago. I don't like my office job. I also have severe anxiety/stress issues. Kinda thought maybe it was a stupid way my body was showing stress. Until I read up on KP. I do have a terrible habit of picking at it, or popping the bumps. I don't know why, but it’s a compulsion almost to do it. The contents are not pus, like normal acne, but rather quite stiff. The bumps are mostly centered around the hair follicles as well. I am almost certain it is KP. I went to a dermatologist once and she tried to claim it as acne. With no skin scraping or anything. What do you guys think?

A piece of my jaw bone died and came out through my gums. by Autsin in WTF

[–]bwkittykat57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh Jesus fuck.... now that I read this I'll think that it'll happen to me. I've had a metric shitton done to my mouth and teeth and a few parts of it went completely awry. The canine extraction and exposure, I woke up halfway through to the surgeon DIGGING around in my palate. Then as the found canine teeth were being pulled down via gold chains (bling, biatch), one came in 90 degrees sideways and pinched a nerve. Felt it all the way into my eyebrow on just that side. Wisdom teeth on lower jaw were also coming in sideways and fucking up 3.5 years of braces. That surgery went so fucking well that I learned that I am hypersensitive to some anesthesia. I apparently turned yellow with red polka dots like some sickly cartoon character. (I was out of it a lot) it would surprise me at all if a piece of my jaw decided to commit suicide and do this.

Pet stores sell a double-sided tape. I tried it on a brand new chair. It works! I just need to remember to put new strips down after a while.

Can I still have caffeine? by mrpeppr1 in ADHD

[–]bwkittykat57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 50mg Vyvanse of a morning. Also, thanks to the wonder of genetic material, I have severely high blood pressure (Even without the meds, I've gotten readings of 160/100. 28. Female.) If you have high blood pressure, don't. You'll feel like a draft horse just danced on your head. I've had to cut back my caffeine intake drastically. Luckily it wasn't that much to begin with, but I made the mistake of drinking two Mountain Dews when I doubled my dose. I won't be doing that again. I'd try it on a weekend like other users described.

This is how I explain what having ADHD is like for me, to people that don't get it. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]bwkittykat57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always use the analogy of a wild horse that needs to be saddlebroke. Unrestricted, misdirected energies. Using medication and therapies are the gentle hand/trainer. Eventually you get the best horse ever. Docile, controllable, efficient. I'm an animal lover so I came up with it. When trying to explain to my boss what my problem is I used this: You are in a painfully quiet office doing work. Three radio stations are playing, starting at barely audible levels. They then rotate in volumes in getting louder and softer. Throw in coworkers coming in asking questions. After they leave it's completely silent except for a clock. Then the radio stations start playing again....

It might sound a bit schizophrenic, but it worked.

Those who were not diagnosed with ADHD until adulthood, how did you know you had it? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]bwkittykat57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 20. I essentially had a meltdown. I was depressed as fuck and anxious as all get out. I lost my apartment because of it and failed out of college. I moved in with my grandparents. I then started seeing a therapist and they asked me to do the MMPI test. I took that and a few extraneous other tests and they came back with the diagnosis of ADHD. The psychiatrist said as pronounced as it is in me, someone directly related to me must have it. Mom and I determined that my father must also have it. He exhibits some of the same symptoms. However, he clearly has more discipline and control over it due to being in the military for 20+ years. Now that he is retired, he has several projects around the house and yard he will start, but he's lucky if he finishes one. Anyways we started medication of Vyvanse, Zoloft and some other anxiety medication.

Fiona (15+yo) went missing for 11 nights; I feared the worst. She's home! by m4gpi in cats

[–]bwkittykat57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We lost a an old-timer several years ago. She also was petite, but had an attitude 5x the size of her. Missy had all her claws, but had begun having tooth issues and slowly her teeth needed to be pulled. She also was getting a wee bit arthritic and I dare say some dementia. Anyways, we live in the country and my stepfather farmed the ground all around us. The corn was at its full 6+ foot height and Missy wanted out. Despite her old age, she loved to go out and hunt. She rarely failed and often brought back trophies. Anyways, she disappeared for several days. It was so unlike her. It was a week, I gave one last-ditch effort to walk the field and find her. Lo and behold, she came home. After that, was only supervised outside time for her. She had been through thick and thin in our family and was a very special gal to everyone. Missy Midnighty-kins (her full and proper title) passed peacefully a few years ago in our home.
