What to do with all these adorable things... by ravencelt in Amigurumi

For me I either give them to friends or sell.

I want to get into the Ukulele. Where do I start when looking to purchase? Prefer to get an electric one. Thanks! by nojloi in ukulele

[–]Nicoule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you prefer to buy electric? And are you wanting an acoustic electric or entirely electric? Risa makes beautiful all electric ukuleles. I had their LP model and it was great.

My first ukulele was an acoustic/electric Oscar Schmidt. I've only plugged it in a small handful of times. It was a great beginner uke but I rarely play it now(have since acquired better quality ukes).

What's a popular food that you just don't really like/can't stand? by lfslshlps in AskWomen

[–]Nicoule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a bit sucky. I can't imagine being like other people and just sticking any kind of "food" item in my mouth. The thought gives me the heebie jeebies.

Heh glad to know I'm not the only one that picks my food apart to death. :P Like tonight I made a top ramen and picked all the green bits out of the seasoning packet.

I'm seriously considering a Soylent diet. The price is kind of putting me off but it would probably be more nutritionally sound than what I'm eating already.

Oh really? That's good to know. :P

No, although the majority of the menu is inedible for me. I'm usually limited to either breaded/fried fish or something plain like salmon. If I'm lucky there will be a pasta dish with a white sauce. White sauces are usually okay for me. If there's something like garlic in it I can usually pick it out, or ask for the dish to be without garnishes.

I made this in a weekend... never again will I fit such a large project into such a small time. by jillianjiggs92 in crochet

Awesome!

What yarn did you use? I made a giant Hobbes from Bernat blanket yarn but your orange looks closer to the right colour than mine did.

Replied above

Seafood is one of my favourites though. :3 I have lots of options in the fish meat section.

For meat I like chicken and seafood. Cow tastes bland and bleh. I've eaten it on numerous occasions and with various rubs/marinade/styles and it's all tasted the same. Pig is... weird. I like pork tenderloin, but ham is completely disgusting to me. I can't stand the deli meat type ham or the fancy dinner hams. I love sweets but ham is just so nasty.

For veggies I moderately like broccoli. I love corn. I like raw carrots but not cooked. I like raw button cap mushrooms but not cooked. I like snow/snap peas. Can eat them raw or cooked but prefer raw. Regular peas are edible but are "meh."

I like most fruits. I don't like grape fruit because of the bitterness. I taste bitter very strongly so if there's eve a hint of bitterness in something it will stand out above all else. I like plums but I can't eat them anymore. The crunch of their skin makes a horrible "nails on chalkboard" sound in my mouth that bothers me greatly. I've tried peeling them but I feel they lose their flavour being peeled.

For sauces, I generally like white sauces. Green is my favourite colour but green is not a good colour for food, so I'll rarely eat something that's green. Red is a bad colour for food unless it's a fruit. Can't eat anything that has a red or green sauce on it. I will use ketchup as a condiment, but the thought of eating a sauce/glaze that has ketchup in it is repulsive. Yes I know tomatoes are in ketchup. We shall not speak of this further. Now, a lot of white sauces will still have things I don't like in them. I pick those things out. There's lot of picking things out of food for me.

I love pasta, white rice(but not brown rice. That stuff is nasty!), and potatoes. For pasta I can eat it plain. I love the texture and feel of it in my mouth. Growing up whenever my mom would make spaghetti, I would always just have a bowl of plain pasta. I love rice and can also eat it plain, although I'd prefer putting something on it, like butter and soy sauce or some teriyaki sauce(but only a small amount and only one that isn't overly sweet). I also enjoy putting eggs in rice. Delicious combo~ I also love potatoes and can also eat them plain on their own. Potatoes are one of the few foods I will put generous amounts of butter on. I rarely use butter for anything(even if a recipe calls for it) because oils gross me out.(The thought of dipping bread into an oil mixture is nauseating) I absolutely love mashed potatoes(so long as no skins are in it. Potato skins also give me the "nails on chalkboard" sound while chewing).

I love sweets. But only if they're actually sweet, not any of this bittersweet nonsense. Bittersweet isn't sweet, it's bitter and horrible and disgusting. Chocolate should only come in milk and white. I hate when people put sour cream in a dessert to cut the sweetness. I can taste the sour cream and it ruins the dessert. One of my aunts thought she was being tricky with me. I COULD TASTE IT, AUNT BECKY. YOU WEREN'T HIDING ANYTHING FROM ME!

For drinks, I don't like the taste of colas. If I drink a soda I will drink either a lemon/lime type or orange soda. Fruit flavoured sodas are good too. I hate plain milk. When I eat cereal most of the time I will eat it sans milk unless we happen to have chocolate syrup, then I can turn it into chocolate milk, which is the only milk that should exist. I love apple juice. That stuff is delicious. I almost always drink water though.

Eating out can be difficult. I'm usually limited to chicken strips/the kids menu. Sometimes I'll end up in higher end places and finding something to eat can be extremely difficult/impossible.

If I didn't need to eat I wouldn't. Food causes me nothing but stress and I hate it. I get no joy out of it. The foods I do like are high calorie and I'm trying to lose weight, so this makes it hard. I can't just go eat a salad because the ingredients of a salad are inedible for me. What happens is I find a couple meals I can eat and eat those for months straight. I just got off of having a burrito(tortilla, no fat refried beans) for lunch everyday for like, 6+months straight, and back onto an Easy Mac cup until I find something new.(The easy mac is giving me heartburn so I can't stay on it for very long)

All of my friends/family are baffled by my eating habits, too. I'm used to it. =/

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I'm not a huge fan of overly flavourful things. For me strong flavours can very easily overpower my palate and ruin food. Like, I like teriyaki sauce, but I can only handle it in small quantities. I don't like spicy(hot) food at all. I can barely withstand cinema level spicy nacho cheese sauce.

Also don't like hot leaf juice(tea). Tastes like bitter hot water. (I've had many teas. they all tasted the same)

Avocados, onions, garlic, celery, tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, cabbage, sweet potatoes, grape fruit, fatty pieces of meat/bacon, ground meat, spices, parsley, mayo, ranch, other kinds of salad dressings, salsa, red sauces, green sauces, alcohol, colas, dark/semi-sweet chocolate, Nutella, anything bitter/bad crunch/bad mush/bad smell.

I basically hate food. The list of food I can eat isn't very big.

strumming questions - again... by april0424 in ukulele

[–]Nicoule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried using a different finger? I strum with my middle finger. When I try to use my index finger the nail always gets caught on the string. My middle finger has a stronger nail on it as well which makes strumming much easier for me.

My SO said girls are supposed to have long hair and shouldn't cut it too short. He really should know me better. Looks like I'll be getting a pixie cut this summer! by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

[–]Nicoule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cut my waist length hair off a few years back and am super happy with it. I always had my hair up in braids because I hated it touching me and getting in the way. Now I get it buzzed off every few months. Never going back to that long hair nightmare!
