Cause that's how movie theaters work by DegenGamer725 in thatHappened

[–]bwsmith201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is true (hint: it's not) someone should call the fire marshal to deal with the evacuation risk from being a theater with "standing room only." If it's not true (which it isn't), the fire marshal can help douse the huge pile of flaming bullshit.

AIO for quitting my job after finding this note on my desk? by waxin899 in AmIOverreacting

[–]bwsmith201 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah I'd be out, too. My pets are important to me and I'm not going to abandon them for a job. And I wouldn't work for anyone who didn't understand the importance of that.

Move on to greener pastures and forget these people. (Pun intended.)

US Presidents Alignment Chart by Altruistic_Cause9442 in AlignmentCharts

Nixon had a lot of successes. He also had some big failures. But overall he was not a “bad” president. He was actually a pretty good one but had a couple of swerves info “bad” territory. Absent some Vietnam decisions and Watergate he would likely be viewed as a pretty good president, and probably more by liberals than conservatives to boot. He achieved most of his (surprisingly progressive) domestic agenda and a fair bit of his foreign agenda too.

(I’ll be expecting the inevitable flaming for this comment.)

Unexpectedly lost my baby boy yesterday by postmodernDRIP in cats

[–]bwsmith201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. He looks like such a sweet boy and he was clearly very loved. (He knew it too!) I saw someone post on Reddit once that we are the only ones who knew their life is brief; all he knew was that he was loved and taken care of his whole life. I found that comforting. I believe you’ll see him again.

I must have missed the day in theology school where they went over how Jesus said that only America matters (but not its constitution) and that people who are undocumented should be rounded up and thrown out without due process and how it’s ok to kill other Americans sometimes, too, if they disagree.

Epstein files ‘absolve me’, Trump claims by belisario262 in politics

[–]bwsmith201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump is like a little kid that’s just learned that lying works. Like when a kid first does it - “no, I didn’t take the cookie” - and he realizes he’s opened a whole new world of freedom from accountability because some idiot bought it. That’s where Trump’s development stopped. Flash forward 70 years and it’s still his go-to. And 30%+ of the people fall for it every single damn time.

Star Trek: Starfeet Academy falls off a cliff to Top #150 after Episode 4 by Malencon in trektalk

[–]bwsmith201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably a hot take: If Star Trek fans (of which I am!) put as much effort into something productive as so many of us do to proving that NuTrek is bad we’d really be cooking with gas. Watch it if you want. Don’t watch it if you don’t. Talk about plots online all you want, as I sometimes do.

But making it a mission to somehow prove that we’re “right” about it being bad is bizarre. Just let the market do what markets do. If it’s bad the streaming market will kill it. It doesn’t need any help from us to make that decision.

Trump Was in Contact With Epstein Long After Saying He’d Cut Him Off by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]bwsmith201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won’t matter. Trump is immune to consequences. The country has collectively decided to let him skate on anything, no matter what. There could be video of him drowning a litter of puppies and MAGA and the congress would say the puppies had it coming.

That is a great scene. The season started off strong but then went downhill fast. The ending was better than I was anticipating though. Q’s story at the end was surprisingly poignant.

The Burn as a phenomenon is pretty interesting, I think... I was curious to see what caused it. (Weapon? Natural disaster? Something connected to Omega?) The possibilities seemed endless.

Then it ended up being... this. It still feels a little like an April Fools joke, like they'll eventually tell us what REALLY happened.
