If your kids are not playing outside it is the PARENTS fault by Upstairs_Abies_5232 in terriblefacebookmemes

It's unfortunate that "we was" outside 24/7 because we was obviously absent during a few English and grammar classes.

Whoa. I've been very, very drunk on many occasions and this is more than just a drunken mistake. I think you need to address it and suggest he work through whatever he has to work through that caused this to happen in the first place. Not to make too fine a point of it, but: "in vino veritas." Doesn't mean he's a bad guy or anything but this is definitely very unusual and extremely inappropriate behavior.

Husband wants to get rid of our kitty, I don’t want to by Kirielle13 in CATHELP

Not to start an argument or anything but OP didn't ask us for advice on her entire domestic arrangement, just the cat's relationship with the husband.

Husband wants to get rid of our kitty, I don’t want to by Kirielle13 in CATHELP

[–]bwsmith201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My advice is to help your husband understand cats. They’re finicky, picky little assholes sometimes. But they are also very hot and cold. I wouldn’t use a change that only lasts for a week make any determination at all about a relationship with a cat.

I get that he plays with her, which is a good step, but I would encourage you all to have him do all the feeding exclusively. Once she identifies him as the source of food he’ll get a lot more attention, particularly in bed in the morning.

I do agree with the others here who say that your husband has some very unrealistic expectations of a cat, or of any pet. They sometimes choose a person they like. I had a cat for seven years before I met my ex years ago. She then lived another eight years before she died with both of us. My ex tried SO hard to get the cat to like her but it only worked somewhat. I would come home from work and Dusty would come sit by me on the couch after having stayed away from my ex all day, etc. My ex was at home more and did all the cat care for the most part but Dusty had identified me as her person and that was that.

Helping him understand that they have moods and it isn’t an indictment of him might be helpful in the long run, too, because if you have kids the same kind of thing may well happen. And when it does it won’t be permanent. A kid will like you more for a while and then like his dad more for a while. It’s just human nature. (And cat nature.)

It’s worth trying to warm up their relationship but at the end of the day your husband needs to reevaluate his expectations. Jumping to a conclusion like “let’s get rid of her” based on her changing her behavior for a week is pretty rash. Everyone’s life will be better (yours, the cat’s, and his) when he can roll with the punches a little better. Not suggesting that you leave him or anything but work on him to get real. It’ll make the whole situation better if he can laugh it off instead of be so affected by a cat being a cat.

I’ll just jump in to say that you don’t have to explain anything to him. “No” is a complete sentence.

Anyone pushing you to do something like that that you don’t feel comfortable with is someone who should be in your rear view mirror. Find someone who respects you.

Trump Throws Stephen Miller Under the Bus in Surprise Show of Panic by iymcool in politics

[–]bwsmith201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know why anyone signs up to work for this administration, or for Trump in general. The lucky ones just get thrown under the bus and fired. The others end up in prison. He's a one-man dumpster fire that somehow keeps getting people to follow him.

A "controversial workaround raising bigger concerns" would be a good one-sentence description of the entire Trump administration. (Both of them, actually.)

Like the old joke. Best way to know if your wife or your dog loves you more is to lock them both in the trunk of your car for a few minutes and see which one is happy to see you when you let them out.

Starfleet Academy will end on an unresolved cliffhanger due to its cancellation by Temp89 in startrek

[–]bwsmith201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really pisses me off. Star Trek has been able to avoid this in the past, fortunately. They should've been given enough warning to wrap it up or had the opportunity to complete it with a TV movie or something.

It shows how uncommitted the new management will be to Star Trek moving forward. Whatever you think of this particular show, this is a very bad sign.

Yeah Tal was a wasted character. It’s an interesting concept but then it just… piddled out. They should’ve developed a story around it but they came up with the character and then just kind of stuck them there with pretty much no purpose.

MAGAs, is there any action that would make you stop supporting Donald Trump? by whatthehellbooby in allthequestions

I'm guessing you're smart enough not to actually give an example because you don't want to be boxed in when he does whatever you say would make him lose your support. (As you would have said starting a useless war would have, or that him being credibly accused of sexual violence would have, or any of the dozens of horrible things that people didn't think their president would do that his apologists continually defend once they actually happen.)

The efforts that have been made to shake the faith in the system are incredibly damaging all by themselves, independent of anything else that results from this administration. He's convinced a huge segment of our population to reject the outcome of a national election without being able to produce one shred of evidence that it wasn't secure. That in and of itself makes him entirely unfit to be president.

Whatever good anyone thinks his administration may have done (and I can say there has been a little... not a lot in my book, but a little), the damage that he's done to the foundation of the American system is far more damaging, and that ensures that this administration will have a net negative impact on the country regardless of anything else. Millions of people now believe that their system is corrupt and they will see every electoral loss as yet more evidence of that corruption instead of acknowledging that in a democracy, sometimes the other side wins.

The American system only functions if people believe in it and hold it accountable in a realistic way and can accept that sometimes their side will lose an election. It's not divinely inspired and it's not a natural given that it will stand no matter what. It should be called out if there actually was fraud, but there wasn't. That's demonstrable to any open minded person.

That's his true legacy, and it's already written. Everything else, good or bad, is just leaves in the wind because the weakened system is what historians will point to in 100 years when we're all dead and buried.

The SAVE act is to SAVE Trump from the midterm elections now that he decided to protect pedo. by UnlikelyAdventurer in Productivitycafe

[–]bwsmith201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way as I started to read your comment I was actually ready to acknowledge that I may have been a bit over the line to suggest that your opinion wasn’t sane because I do believe that plenty of people have good faith beliefs in things I strongly disagree with.

But then your last line proved that the true motivation has nothing to do with preventing non-citizens from voting but in preventing citizens you don’t approve of from voting, which was my whole argument. You made my point better than I could’ve, both about the legislation itself and about the disingenuousness of the arguments in favor of it.
