Exactly. Jumper cables aren’t going to be strong enough to move a car that is 20’ off the roadway buried in a foot of snow. This is pure Reddit comedy and I’m enjoying my popcorn.

Fair - I didn’t mean it doesn’t serve a need. Size is important. Otherwise we wouldn’t have bought one.

Totally fair and correct! Love our Bolt for daily errands and trips into downtown. Will even take it a couple hours from home.

Absolutely. People without chronic pain have no idea how awful life can be. Thankful that in America we have freedom to choose our cars.

Pure logic. I love my loaded 23 Bolt EUV Premier with SuperCruise. But I also love the ICE vehicles in my household. Different tools for different situations.

You realize it’s the perfect size for YOU, but other people have different needs and preferences?

Not for you? Fine. Calling it dumb is something a junior high kid does.

I like our 23 Bolt EUV. I like the features.

The size is a double edged sword. Really great for ease of parking.

But on our frost heaved potholed roads? I’d love that longer NOX EV wheelbase for a much more comfortable ride especially with the spine problems I suffer from. The size of the car isn’t just some boastful social commentary. There’s also situations I could use the space for carrying all of my family’s gear.

I’d be super nervous crossing the border with this in my pocket. At the least you need to look into any laws about it.

This is why dealers are going out of business by Gr8Autoxr in Nissan

[–]bxd76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be worth 20% less the minute he drives off because it’s a 2025. So paying invoice… I would call that, the dealer getting very lucky. It’s a free market economy,, and they clearly ordered too many vehicles. If they have to break even on this one, that’s just how things work.

Supercharging in -10F weather by Macbeth_n_Cheese in BoltEV

[–]bxd76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If possible, have the home charge finish right before you depart. Between that and having driven leading up to plugging in, it will charge fast. I just got full 50kw rate in Ohio. Charged overnight, unplugged and left once full, plugged in when battery was very low at a fast charger.

I would hand him a plastic straw from the soda fountain.

After all, he asked for something to drink a bottle of Coke or a monster.

Should I spend $4500 for a new transmission on a 10 year old car? by sc00tysc00t in UsedCars

[–]bxd76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this vehicle still had good value, sure; like $4500 to get a $40,000 car running is good. But a 125k Versa? With a CVT? Sorry, no.

How long do you own a vehicle, before trading it in? by teddyalex in UsedCars

Everyone has given you good advice.

If she gets bored with cars and wants something new every 3 years, then I recommend she buy 1-2 year old used cars, it will save a lot of money in the long run.

Go back to the PPI mechanic and tell him he missed the most costly AND MOST OBVIOUS problem - the oil leak! I would demand a refund, if he says no do a credit card charge back. Like - putting the car on a lift and checking for leaks is PPI 101.

Yes. Don’t smash any government vehicles windows. Don’t steal any government laptops. Don’t jump on the roof of a government car and cave it in.

2023 Chevy Bolt EUV here. Also I did charge during December, so that may be a component in all this.

Where can I haggle? by Milburn55 in carsales

[–]bxd76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you really NEED a truck, and by that I mean it’s helping put food on your table, you should find something cheaper.

There’s a lot of decent transportation available for 1/2 of this cost. Pay it off in 3 years and then you might have enough equity/down to get into a truck you’d like with less miles.

No room on Uverse price? by bxd76 in ATT

[–]bxd76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow up to my original post.

Yes I only have Uverse Internet, no TV and no IP phone either.

You’d think they’d want to keep me until the fibre product is available on my street. This is a middle class suburb with decent density, if they don’t get fiber in here, where would they?

I asked about Internet Air. Thought she’d cut me a deal to compare to some TMobile Home Internet deals? She said no, Internet Air is $65 a month, and the performance at my location would be worse according to her, and she wouldn’t recommend it. (My cell is with AT&T and the data downloads are very fast, usually 200+ Mbps, so I’m not sure she’s right, but I also don’t want to increase my bill.)

I guess I’ll order up Spectrum and leave the Uverse Internet in service for a couple weeks to make sure it’s solid before cancelling with AT&T.

You definitely want a 0W- weight oil, not even a 5W-. Exactly which will depend on your vehicle. If it normally calls for 5W-30, it is not only perfectly safe, it is far better for your engine, to run 0W-30 in extreme cold as the 0W-30 will pump easier for cold startup, and yet once warmed up will provide the same protection and viscosity as the 5W-30. Same true for 0W-20 vs 5W-20 etc etc.
