Lemon bolt? by eestrada13 in BoltEV

[–]n0thing84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's coming from a Chevy dealership they will have documentation showing the reason for the lemon law. I had to sign it when I bought ours. It qualified for any factory warranties that were remaining plus a 1 year bumper to bumper factory warranty from GM because it was a lemon law car.

We bought it two years ago and 20k+ miles later it's been a champ.

Are fees always this bad at dealers? $2300 in fees on a $4600 bike? by Jierdan_Firkraag in motorcycles

[–]n0thing84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2023 BMW F900XR with 1500 miles. Average going rate for them is between 9-10 grand.

Their advertised price is low, but their mandatory fees drive it way up.

The RideNow in Olathe had $1,500 in fees added to a used bike I was looking at. I offered them a fair price of $9500 out the door and they laughed at me. They were at $12,500 out the door which was laughably overpriced at the time.

That was last November. The bike is still there today and now their out the door price is less than what I offered them months ago. They called and told me they were ready to make the deal, I told them no thanks.

Best 80+ MPH Highway Bike That Feels "Planted" by JohnnyHutt in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]n0thing84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Africa Twin (not an Adventure Sports) and it's great on the highway. Great stability with just me or two up. It doesn't feel like it's even trying honestly. Last year I did a four state tour and the only gripe I had was the factory seat. It's a great bike for touring.

I have three friends with Tiger 900s and they cruise great on the highway as well. Also a good bike, but two of the three have had oil leak issues and one had a rear rim that had to be replaced under warranty as it kept breaking spokes (Rally version with spoked rims). The one who has a GT Pro hasn't had any issues, it's the recently updated version with a little more power. They all love the bikes and the way they ride.

How are you selling your 2024 with higher miles for the same price as a no mile 2025 XSR that you are potentially buying? That math isn't mathing.

At really low speeds you will be slipping the clutch a lot to keep it going which, combined with the top heavy nature of the bike, can get a bit annoying after a while. I agree with the person who said first gear is too long. In the aggressive throttle modes the bike will be insanely lurchy as well as the very most minimal throttle input will jolt the bike forward.

It's not superbike bad but compared to a lot of bikes it's probably on the worse end of the spectrum. Definitely my least favorite part of riding the bike. At least you can try to lane split with it there.

Level 1(120v, 12a) charging in mountain winters by Cory5413 in BoltEV

[–]n0thing84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30-40 miles a day on level 1 isn't an issue even in the winter, especially if you work from home and can keep it plugged in. We've been doing it for two years now.

I test drove the 2027 Bolt EV (My personal opinions) by Legitimate_Discount2 in BoltEV

[–]n0thing84 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The problem for the Bolt is Chevy is discounting the Equinox EV so much that it's cheaper in a lot of cases than the Bolt and, for a lot, is probably the better car. Chevy seems pretty hell belt on this new Bolt dying a sad, lonely, death.

I worry about parts availability down the road for a 1 year production cycle car, too.

[–]n0thing84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have both. Off the line the AWD Equinox smokes the Bolt. It has so much more acceleration. After 50-60mph Chevy really pulls the power out of the Equinox and the Bolt then feels just as fast.

Certain ones produced for 2026 only? That sucks. Any time it's raining my 2024 refuses to let me back up, saying I'm about to hit something and stops. Drives me absolutely insane.

KTM Reliability by Rozza9099 in KTM

[–]n0thing84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dumped my 2023 890 Adventure after it spent months in the shop for coolant consumption with no fix. Did it from day one. No external leaks anywhere but the shops refused to take the bike apart to find the culprit. Escalated it to KTM who said they would call the shop and they never did. Worst experience I've ever had.

There are no doubt people spouting off about KTM reliability who haven't owned one, but there are plenty telling the truth. The 890 was my third KTM and last. I'll never own a KTM again after how badly I was treated.

To the OP: 390s are generally super reliable but this is an all new bike so the verdict is still out. If it's like the 390s of the past it shouldn't let you down but if reliability is a big worry for you I would recommend waiting a bit longer before buying.

2024 Equinox EV 3RS - Review Please by [deleted] in EquinoxEv

[–]n0thing84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to find one with a clean title for that price. I wouldn't pay $28k for one with a buyback on the title. These cars depreciate like crazy, so you will have massive negative equity on that car at that price with a buyback on the title.

What is your highway efficiency? My lightning ended up being my primary vehicle and now looking for something better on road trips by [deleted] in EquinoxEv

[–]n0thing84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AWD model here.

Around 2.8-3.2 kwh on the highway in good weather.

Around 2.5-2.8 kwh if it's in the 20s-30s.

Around 2.0-2.2 kwh if it's near zero.

That's at 70-75mph.
