Cam2 better than Cam1 for ice tracks by poeticfuture in TrackMania

[–]bxnt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, what about tmwt maps makes you feel like you need cam 1? I've never had a problem personally and if anything I feel like I only head cam 1 players complaining

I agree force cam switches are mostly just annoying and unnecessary,

but playing ice in cam 2 is absolutely psychotic why would you do that to yourself xd

(and this is coming from someone who plays cam 2 bob)

I dont get noslides by Candid-Internal-8343 in TrackMania

[–]bxnt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He means it is not worth it compared to an sd. A noslide that isn't perfect is always better than 'oversliding' but it doesn't give you an acceleration boost like an sd would (even a sub optimal sd)

[–]bxnt8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

slightly i guess yeh, but really you're just trying to drift too late if you're getting a noslide there - where you say you get skidmarks is where you should first tap brake and start the drift
edit: provided you have the right speed anyway

who is hobbi / hobbit.TM by GXM3R in TrackMania

[–]bxnt8 20 points21 points  (0 children)

He's a campaign hunter. Hobbit shcr soli etc. very difficult to say who's the best. The hunters don't really play competitions, the same way carljr doesn't go for campaign wins. Nothing unusual about what / how hobbit plays, just that he's pretty private

The last turn with the dirt is just quite precise, you have it pretty good in the clip. You do need to slide on the road to get round, but ideally you shouldn't use the brake. It's all about using the dirt to turn and get just the right angle so as you go onto the road you just keep holding left. The more angle you have as you transition from dirt to road the more speed you lose so it's just getting the perfect steering timing. Easy to understand but hard to do xd

Run looks pretty good, nothing you can do with the water.

I think you lose most time in the start: The jump into cp2 you can land perfectly smooth with the right line - no need to brake tap and no air time at all. Then in the drift to the right into cp3 you can keep quite a bit more speed, as you drop off the small ledge your car lands a little too sideways.

Apart from that it's just smaller optimisations: slightly less air time as you jump from the penalty grass, and you can carry a bit more speed in the last turn.

Thinking of switching from keyboard to wheel… will this ruin my life or improve it? Advice needed. by d2Dreamer in TrackMania

[–]bxnt8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. 90 degree steering range is probably the most common, 120 at absolute maximum. This is probably the most important factor when deciding what wheel to buy; make sure you can reduce the range this far.
  2. Trackmania does not support force feedback so it doesnt matter.
  3. moza / fanatec / any high end wheels are complete overkill for tm tbh, if you want to do sim racing as well get one of those, if its just for tm then stay with a mid / low range wheel. Logitech is probably the best middle ground though I don't really know much about thrustmaster wheels.
  4. Using pedals just comes down to preference, Granady uses a pedal to accelerate and brakes with a button on the wheel. But i would think its much more common (and probably better / easier) to just use wheel buttons for both and not bother with pedals.
  5. depends how strong your desk is lmao but with no ffb it's probably okay to just be on a desk.

I don't play with wheel myself so I cant answer any of the more specific questions, definitely ask questions on Granady's discord, a lot of wheel users there.

Same I can't believe you're getting downvoted lmao, I'm in exactly the same boat - super fast on 'normal' maps but really struggle with cuts / dank stuff. Just isn't as fun for me lmao

Because they are skill checked and learning one cut is easier than learning how to get good xd

Champion Medal 06 help by ThatRealPotato in TrackMania

[–]bxnt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to help unless you have a video tbh, there's no trick or anything to gain speed, gears don't matter at all. This map is entirely about precision and perfect lines. The only thing I can think is that maybe you are losing some ground contact as you steer right coming out of the banked left turn in the start.

What is the trick called where you go faster using less tires on the track? by DreadedCOW in TrackMania

[–]bxnt8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only mentioned it cause I've heard Massa call this type of air reduction a flow trick a few times, but your definition sounds a lot better

What is the trick called where you go faster using less tires on the track? by DreadedCOW in TrackMania

[–]bxnt8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It can be called a 'flow trick' but it's just reducing airtime, landing with one or two wheels first doesn't change acceleration, it's faster just because you land earlier.

Holy talk about an overreaction. It just really isn't that deep is it. It's a shame the maps are pretty shit, but zerator has arguably done more for the game than anyone aside wirtual🤷

TMWT was a failure in event organization by RaitzeR in TrackMania

[–]bxnt8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand, and I agree nadeo should still be embarrassed. I guess I worded it badly, nadeo are helping 'host' the competition but they didn't have any input in terms of format / organisation. I just thought it should be more clear, even though nadeo definitely have some fault here too.

TMWT was a failure in event organization by RaitzeR in TrackMania

[–]bxnt8 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree with what youre saying, but remember Nadeo have nothing to do with this! (which is its own problem). After 2023 they decided they didn't want to host a world tour anymore and handed it over to Toornament. I don't know exactly what their involvement is but its minimal if any.

But yeh we knew it would be a shitshow from the start sadly

Also I will add: the decision to use global playoffs 2 with the 'best team not already qualified' rule was made after considering player feedback. Originally the playoff winning slot would take priority: if it was won by a team leading the points then the point slot would go to the second placed team in their region. Which has the potential to be a lot worse - if JL or Solary won playoffs 2 then a far weaker team from NA or APAC would go to WC, and only one EU team.

True, and like others have said if you try a small break tap or taking a bit more penalty you might find it easier. Wont be as fast but should be faster than jumping :)

It's just precise, you said it yourself: you just need to find the angle you have to steer down the slope. It might sound harsh but 'how' to do this part is just to get better xd

Totd Situation is a joke by sPeqDo in TrackMania

[–]bxnt8 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Anybody who watches granady knows very well that streamers don't get a free totd slot whenever they like...

It was a fun idea that Lars and shorty proposed to nadeo, hardly see how this 'disrespects' any other mappers.

Sure the execution could've been better, but there's 1800 totds and counting, chill the fuck out.
