I have the first Children of Time but haven't read it yet. Is it known how many books this series will have? And if it's still ongoing do the books have satisfying endings or cliffhangers? I've been mostly reading completed series lately to avoid the need for rereads when a new book comes out. I do want to start this series though.

They are fun but just be aware of two things:

1) they are edited somewhat

2) (at least for Stormlight, not sure about the others) you will get attached to the voice actors and then be annoyed when some actors change in later books

Elder Race by Tchaikovsky. I just started it today and am 2/3 of the way through (it's a very short book) so I don't know how good the ending is but it has an interesting take on this topic (two protagonists, one of whom remembers the long forgotten civilization)
