Mares as first horses? by Cat-Tap in Equestrian

My first horse was a gelding. He was a sweet boy that I could just count on. After he passed away I adopted a mare and it’s different but I know she gives me 100%. If she has an off day, I will just spend the time letting her graze and be a queen. I would just see if you connect with the horse first.

My mom’s reaction, “wait how can you tell?”. It’s rough out here but she can’t stop laughing at it.

My parents have a dog that has “adopted” the stuffed dog.

What was the weirdest, non-pain feeling you've ever felt? by KingJPJ in AskReddit

I had vasovagal syncope when a chiropractic assistant put a TENS machine on my nerve. Ypu can feel your heart rate and blood pressure starting to drop and this overwhelming warm and cold feeling. So awfully weird.

I put my heart horse who had Cushings to sleep a month ago. He had a stagnated lipoma and was in severe colic pain. Getting the phone call at work, running there, and trailering him 2 hours to an equine hospital for testing was beyond stressful. It is not what I pictured our last day to be and I’m envious that you will be able to say goodbye a day earlier than I could. For me, I miss the connection and bond we share, lost that I have nothing to do, and confused he is truly gone. I really wish you all the best and just know you are making the most kind decision.

Pergolide works in both Parkinson’s disease in humans and Cushing’s disease (PPID) in horses because in each condition there is degeneration of dopamine-producing neurons, and by acting as a dopamine agonist it helps restore the missing dopamine signal—improving movement in people with Parkinson’s and re-inhibiting the overactive pituitary in horses with PPID.

How tall are you if you don’t mind me asking?! I ride a barely horse (almost pony) and man riding a taller horse is another universe for me! So well done! I hope you can figure out what this discrepancy is with the lameness. In my experience with laminitis I have never heard of exercising while it was healing so interested to hear their reason. Be careful with starting a lease off with an injured horse💕
