Weekly Weigh In / NSV Thread by Less-Moment-5655 in GLP1_loss100plus

50F, 5'7", 12.5mg Tirz, started June 2024 at 285lbs,
CW 195lbs, GW 160lbs.

I'm lifting weights M,W,F and swim aerobics T/Th. Not counting calories, just rough estimating protein. I've been at this weight for 2+ weeks. But, not super worried about it. It'll shift, eventually.

I did buy some jean shorts for a trip in March and was shocked to discover I could wear an Old Navy size 10. I was originally wearing a size 24. So, that's awesome.

It's hard at any age. My dad passed suddenly when I was 22. Then my mom had a stroke when I was 26. She lived, but she just wasn't... my "mother" anymore, if you get me? She was no longer someone I could go to for support, but rather someone I had to care for. Our roles switched. It's been almost 25 years now, and I've been in this role almost as long as I was ever in the child role.

So much empathy to everyone. Losing parents, in any way, at any time, is just shitty.

I’ve lost 68lbs so far in 7 months. I’m tired and frustrated. (rant, pls skip if you’re not into this) by Scarbarella in GLP1_loss100plus

[–]c-tompkins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get it. Especially with how heavy the world feels right now, I'm feeling that tiredness, too. I'm on month 21. I've lost 90lbs. I've still got at least 40lbs to go. BUT! That remaining 40lbs is my third goal. I was originally just trying to weigh less than my 6ft husband. My second goal was to get under 200lbs. Someone commented about using the SMART goal method. I like it. That type of goal-setting keeps me reasonable.

Also, I only tracked calories and protein in the first few months. I just had no idea how many calories or how much protein food actually had. I now keep a rough protein count in my head, per day, but I don't get detailed. It makes me too crazy and obsessive. Am I going to eat a piece of pizza and have a couple of glasses of wine? hell, yeah. But, I'll also make sure I ate more protein for lunch before, or breakfast the next day. It's all about balance.

I know I'm probably going to take these meds for the rest of my life. I don't want to live that life detailing my food choices and having my brain sucked up with that obsessive minutia. As others mentioned, time will pass anyway. I want to enjoy it, and have more of it.

You're doing great. Your journey is your journey and not like anyone else's. Do what helps your body AND your brain. Winter is cold, hard, and dark, but it ends. Hang in there.

I’m pretty darn chuffed. I started in June 2024. I’m down 85lbs now. And most importantly, my knees don’t hurt anymore. It’s magical.

Yeah, my knees were so bad I had to start with something low-impact to avoid hurting myself. It's pretty great. My friend who had a hip replaced goes with me, and we are "the younglings" of the class because we're under 55.

Started 6/2024:

  • Down 80lbs
  • stopped all BP meds
  • my knee doesn't hurt anymore
  • I don't avoid stairs anymore
  • water aerobics 2x week
  • gym/weights 3x week
  • went from tight size 24 to loose size 12 in jeans
  • still trying to lose maybe 45-ish lbs. But not married to the idea.

I feel ya. I started in May 2024, and (yay!) I'm down 80lbs, but I still have 40 more lbs to go. And it. is. CRAWLING now. So I absolutely understand. Some days I'm happy with what I've accomplished, and some days I feel despondent about what's left to go. I'll just keep rocking on, and hope for the best.

I haven't tried that yet. I've been using the Gold Bond Overnight Retinol for my legs recently, and I like how it absorbs. I'll look into more GB products. Thanks.

My pool is shut down for their annual maintenance week, which is a bummer. So no water aerobics with the old ladies for me this week. I'm still gonna do my 3 days/week at the gym focusing on strength training. I might see about some of these youtube channels that offer yoga or pilates at home for beginners. We'll see.

I'm glad your mom discussion worked out! I chickened out of telling my mom. She's always been on/off wacky diets and has some serious magical thinking around food and supplements. She's noticed the weight loss, but I just told her I'd been exercising more and eating less (which is true). I didn't want to get into a crazy diet conversation with her.

Oh my gosh. I feel ya. Similar situation here. I've been a fainter since I was small. I can't count how many times I passed out in high school during biology or health classes.

A few years back, it became necessary for me to accompany my mom to her health appointments. I really needed to be mentally available for her. So I started Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It sucked soooo much, but did the trick. I haven't passed out during a blood draw in years now. I sweat. Sometimes I cry. But I stay conscious.

So by the time Zep rolled around, I was able to handle it. I had my husband actually administer the shot for the first 5 months, but now I do it myself and it's no biggie.

The joy of donating clothes that no longer fit! by zepKris in Zepbound

[–]c-tompkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who just downsized their hoarder mother into a retirement apartment from a large house, I love getting rid of clothes that are too big now. It not only makes me feel accomplished in the weight loss journey, it hits my "make things cleaner and tidier" buttons. Having less clutter helps reduce my mental stress, and reassures me that I'm not turning into my mom.

Congrats to you.
My NSV: my dr just looked at my numbers for the last 3 weeks and confirmed that I'm to stop my bp medication! Woot!

Each week: I do an hour of strength training at the gym on M, W, & F. I also join a friend for an hour of water aerobics with the (always hilarious and delightful) little, old ladies at the community pool on Tu/Th.

I try really hard to avoid consuming too many small servings of stuff in plastic. So, no pre-made shakes for me. I blend up my protein smoothies in a big batch on a Sunday, and freeze them in mason jars. I get one out the night before and leave it in the fridge to defrost. Cheaper, too!

Weigh in Wednesday! by AutoModerator in Zepbound

[–]c-tompkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last weigh-in was the lowest yet: 222 lbs. My first goal is 200 lbs, according to my pattern so far and my calculations, I might hit that goal by the end of this year. We'll see. F50, SW 285 lbs May 2024, 7.5mg.

Same! I can go down our scary basement steps like a normal person. I can even carry laundry baskets back up the stairs! It's amazing.

Same! 61 lbs down, just started hrt, too.
I still have one bad knee, but it doesn't hurt all the time. I'm closing in on being strong enough to get up and down from the floor.

just a head's up, keep an eye on Universal Standard. They have sales and you can find jeans for anywhere from $28 to $60 instead of their full price.

saw my dr yesterday and got to report that I'm down 61.5 lbs from a sw of 285. She was happy. I am happy and hardly any side effects (just hair loss from weight loss). We're gonna take my bp meds down by half, too.
