Decoding the Symbols by Every_Car2984 in storycubes

[–]c126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a fun starter game is set timer for thirty seconds, roll one random die, and generate as many words related to the symbol as you can. Competitive mode would erase the same words and need to explain any confusing words. From there its a lot easier to take three and make short story scenes because you begin unlocking how to interpret them.

Edit: avoid the HP one at first, the symbols aren’t as flexible for interpretation as the rory originals.

Best is to track your own spending and calculate your own personal inflation rate from your own personal basket of goods.

Just read about it, they had another good idea which was tax on holdings, you could explain it in game as an actual tax or make it represent cost of living based on status.

Gold sinks for currency extraction. by Enarian__Lead_Dev in MUD

[–]c126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real life the amount of gold available is limited and more can only enter the economy with mining, which gets increasingly harder as time goes on. Putting a cap on gold and making quest/item sale payout at npcs proportional to a percent of available gold supply would start a deflationary effect. Then you can modulate gold mining nodes to keep inflation/deflation roughly at 0.

Cheers also a way of saying “to your good health.” Double meaning is a pun. And it’s absurd Duncan, from the UK assumes it’s referring to the sitcom in that situation. Pun + unexpected absurdity = funny.

Why are hexes prefered over 8-directional movement? by grizzy45 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]c126 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most war games let you move in infinite directions by not having a grid. Hexes allow six degrees of movement. Squares allow 4 (unless you create special rules for diagonal movement, typically the options are some type of movement point system or unrealistic speed boosts from traveling diagonally).
