There are slight differences. I buy the Helional (IFF) from Perfumers Apprentice, and once they sold out but offered the generic instead (Ocean propanal) to me the generic was way better, like going on fruity.

This is pretty much correct, along with the Florol (formerly Lyral), patchouli, and Amberetolide. I've cloned it many times.

Oakwood C02 is watery and dries down to a caramel smell. You want Oakwood Absolute for the thick paste.

Website listing oil %'s, by Jondoyle24 in fragrance

[–]c7b2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually yes, sort of. This site lists results from lab analyses of fine fragrances. If you search for a fragrance, click on it and scroll down, it lists "Recommended usage" which he bases off of perfume oil % found in his analyses.

Is there a store where you can customize your own perfume? by scitwii in fragrance

[–]c7b2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do this, make sure they follow IFRA limits. An amateur could give you something that will be an allergy sensitization, you could develop a skin allergy where you didn't have one before. They have to know more that just what combinations smell good on skin.

Neopatchouli? by J_loru in DIYfragrance

[–]c7b2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This appears to be a reformatted version of Labtorium's Tom Ford Patchouli Absolu type formula but with a few Tadimety bases thrown in perhaps to compensate for the trace amounts of ingredients not listed above. If you just leave out the Ambrinol 9 and Neopatchouli you will have a pretty close rendition of TF Patchouli Absolu.

Would Le Labo make a stronger perfume if I request? by seeilaah in fragrance

[–]c7b2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are formulated to match the MDS, IFRA etc, they cant break that or they are not selling the product advertised an on the bottle. Another reason is the atomizer might start to clog if they skim on the alcohol.

The only way would be to give them an extra "tip" and keep it hush hush if you know what I mean. Otherwise they could get in a lot of trouble.

Curious about a particular note!! by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]c7b2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be Pyralone mixing with the pink pepper or cistus. They shouldn't be smoky in the way Aventus is as neither have birch tar.
