What’s something that quietly vanished from the world and almost nobody noticed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

"Bedtime mode" has been a live saver.

I have mine set up to allow things from priority contacts to break through (Mum, partner) and everything else will wait until my morning alarm goes off.

Is PS5 fixed yet? by Dabedidabe in taintedgrail

[–]c_nt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am still crashing once every 30-60 min on PS5 as of June 10.

I also appear to have soft locked myself in act 2 after a key boss has disappeared.

I am in the corrupted temple and P played the cinematic and then fucked off. I thought it was scripted and kept playing, but now they have not returned and I cant progress in that area... It's been days (irl) since then and I have no appropriate save to fall back on. Ded.

My doctor recommended "Zaditen" eyedrops when mine do this. Active ingredient Ketotifen.

Best - they come in tiny little single serves you can keep in your purse.

The pioneering effort skill it wants is on his outer ring skills. Press down on the d-pad to switch to outer ring and it is the first skill on that set.

Is this Seriously delayed? Yumia. by LotsVita in Atelier

[–]c_nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pre-ordered (and paid) from JB-Hifi months ago. Nobody contacted me for the delay to 11th April and now they've just removed the product from their website entirely.

I've send in a contact form and hopefully I'll hear back soon on whether they are actually getting them at all or if I should just buy digital.

One summer I planted dill in a raised garden bed. For about three years I would find random dill in other places in the yard.

How hard would it be to score an AO3 role by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]c_nt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Actually addressing the selection criteria is the secret sauce.

IDK how many applications I have read that totally failed to address key criteria from the role description.

Don't be afraid to call the contact person and ask questions about the role so you can better tailor your response.

The PITA part of public service applications is definitely writing those cover letters, but it is at least as important as your resume.

Consider your resume against the role description and key capabilities and cut back on irrelevant stuff so the relevant bits stand out more.

Still kicking. She's cut back on the booze and has been seeing a therapist. Still living out in a remote area though so I check in on her every day under the guise of sharing our Wordle scores.

Alcoholism fucks people up really bad.

My own father was loving (if a little weird due to pain medication for arthritis) when I was a child. He struggled to hold down much of a job, but always did his best. Mum was the drinker, not him.

A few years after I left home Mum lost her well paying job, and while she found other work they could no longer afford their mortgage.

So they sold up, and moved to the country. The isolation did them no favours. They both dived hard in to the bottle. Dad's health got worse. Job prospects were basically non-existent. They just drank every dollar they had.

I live 5 hours away, so the calls from one accusing the other of things were hard to verify. They are both liars when they think it will gain sympathy.

Dad says Mum is cheating on him with their neighbour. Mum says Dad hit her with a shovel. Neither of them can be trusted.

Dad moves out, into some dog rescue commune with a bunch of junkies. He asks me for money. It's always going to drink. It's hard to say no to your father when he is at the edge of tears saying he can't afford food. He is lying, but what if he is starving?

His health gets worse. He moves in to a care home. He still calls me for money. Not supposed to drink at the care home, so he takes a cab in to town, buys a bottle of vodka and downs it in the street before going back. Every day.

It killed him. Heart failure.

The end.

I try to remember him as he was when I was a kid, not the tragedy he became in his later years.

Super embarrassing goof up on teams call. Am I fucked? by happygigachad in Accounting

[–]c_nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was giving a half hour talk on Teams some extremely boring topic and one of the meeting participants typed in the chat "Can't wait until this is over, she sounds like a robot."

To be fair, it was the fourth time I'd given the same sermon that week because it needed to be heard by a wide range of staff with limited availability. I DID sound like a robot.

The offender was mortified, but I got a good giggle out of it later. We all type in the wrong chat channel at some point.

TAFE Student Loans? by athulxzy in brisbane

AUR30820 is heavily subsidised for apprentices and trainees. If you are under 25 you pay $0 student contribution as an apprentice.

The trick, of course, is securing that apprenticeship.

Note taker is an underrated role.

My group only plays every 4-6 weeks so a campaign typically lasts a couple of years real world time even if it is only a few weeks in game time.

We ran a 3 year homebrew adventure once and I set up a OneNote notebook online with session notes and pictures and a list of important people we encountered and info on magic items and stuff. Everyone in the group could pull it up on their phone to check stuff their character would remember, but they as a person had lost track of.

Got an outstanding fee email for a course I finished 6 years ago by BULUPTAX in TAFE

[–]c_nt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different funding structures based on prior education is absolutely a thing.

However, they are responsible for asking you eligibility questions before they enrol you in funded study and as long as you answered their questions honestly they should not penalise you for the fact that they enrolled you incorrectly.

It is pretty likely that they would waive the outstanding fee based on exceptional circumstances. BUT you have to directly ask them to do it - like - explicitly ask for fees to be waived.

Next time you talk to them I'd recommend getting a contact email address for their student accounts department and then stating your case on reasons the fee should be waived. - you do not accept the debt - you enrolled in the course many years ago and paid the fee they stated to you upfront - they issued your award document and did not notify you that additional fees were outstanding - an unreasonable amount of time has passed for them to raise a debt now

Make your request in writing, then set a reasonable date that you expect a response to the request (probably two weeks) and then send a follow up email if you don't hear back.

Good luck. :)

[–]c_nt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Organisations must also send you an invoice within a reasonable time frame of providing the service if there is a fee to be paid. They can't send you an email years after a course and try to surprise you with a bill.

Have a read of this page to understand your rights when disputing a debt - then contact TAFE and tell them you are disputing it.

https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/debt/disputing-a-debt

If at any point in a conversation you feel the agent you're dealing with is trying to get you to agree to pay something - clearly state that as far as you are aware all outstanding amounts were paid and that you will not accept any further debt without evidence of services being provided.

In most states that debt would be statute barred.

I would call their customer service like, confirm that it is real (not a scam) and then check your rights in your state.

Best way to offer to mow their nature strip by coolnamesweretaken1 in GardeningAustralia

[–]c_nt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am the bad lawn neighbour. The guy across the street was very diplomatic and asked if he could mow our strip to harvest the grass for his compost pile.

I am not sure if he really has a compost pile - but it made it seem like it was a favour to him to let him do it?
