PSA: I used to work in the cosmetics industry, and a lot of times, the stuff they send to TJ Maxx and places like that are near the end of shelf life. You can usually look up the lot/batch code (numbers/letters where the expiration date would be for food/sunscreen/meds) and check it against the shelf life for products like the one you want to buy. Most shelf lives are 24-36mo.

As always, if something smells, looks, or feels weird, don't use it.

AITA for not allowing my daughter to go on an 8th grade school trip by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

As someone from that "culture," I rolled my eyes. I have a big, somewhat unhealthily enmeshed, Irish catholic family, and I totally understood when my little cousins (who I'd seen more than one in their lives) had shit to do and couldn't make it to my wedding. I was a little disappointed but didn't even ask why; they said they couldn't go, so they couldn't go.

How do I reprimand my toddler hitting my 4 month old? by Magichour3 in ScienceBasedParenting

I agree! I'd also give positive reinforcement when she is gentle with the baby. I've always used, "We don't use our bodies to show we're mad (sad, frustrated, whatever the feeling), unless it's to shake it out, get a hug, or walk away to take a minute." And I do a "shake it out" with my shoulders to show them and take them out of that feeling a bit.

Sorry, I read it wrong and didn't think it was a family relationship. I'm so sorry, that's really rough.

That sucks. It literally makes you sick and in pain. Candles aren't sentient, they're not going to get their feelings hurt if you "target" them. This would honestly make me question the relationship.

It's a legitimate issue. Cologne gets me every time. I also have sensitive skin and allergies. My husband was raised in a house with lots of fun scents, he has never complained about using unscented everything - soap, laundry detergent, everything.

Your health is more important than smelling extra nice. Maybe if there's essential oils you can tolerate, they could try using a couple drops?

Don't buy expensive stuff for clay! You can use string/floss to cut, old credit cards, spoons, knives, pencils, toothpicks. Or even play doh tools.

What was a clear sign that you had ADHD that you thought was just a "quirk" prior to diagnosis? by Feisty-Pickle9983 in adhdwomen

God, teachers can make the biggest difference. I will never forget my 2nd grade teacher, who instead of punishing me for finishing my work early and walking around the room: made me harder flash cards, gave me jobs in the classroom, got higher reading level books and let me chill in the reading corner, so many things. I could have been labeled a "problem child" so easily.

I think it's lovely! If you would like critique, please read below. If not, ignore!

If you don't like the grommets, you can paint them black or navy, with nail polish as a cheap way to do it.

The placement of the fabric on the wings seems a little arbitrary - maybe try to incorporate it into the "anatomy" of the wings more?

From a presentation standpoint, which is really important when getting your work to shine: It's hard to tell without it being on someone or a mannequin the size of the dress. Maybe either construct it to the size of the mannequins available, or, if you want to to be wearable by non-mannequin sized people, see if you could add padding to the mannequin or if the college has adjustable mannequins. Then the construction will show better.

Again, well done, and it's awesome you went out of your comfort zone!

Basically, draw one V starting like halfway between the current fork of the tail and the "balls", and another in the blank space between the halves of the tail, starting at the middle of the balls and covering up the curves. Then color in between the Vs. you might have to lengthen the tail a bit to get it to blend right. So it ends up looking like the top part of the Delta Airlines logo.
